Zsanett Nemeth getting injured in the world champs semi final in front of her home crowd, then fighting half the match basically standing only on one leg and fighting mostly against her tears

Maybe a gift for Russia not winning any golds last year? :p

Are there any other wrestlers besides Nabi and Kudla you "enjoy very much"? :d

not really. most of Russian wrestlers faced brutal draw here. they were all well-prepared and deserved the gold medal. I think they got one or two dubious calls in freestyle but in Greco-Roman they were very very dominant.

:d I'm sure I didn't mention Kudla here in this championship but yeah your memory works very well. I just hate wrestlers winning medal by doing NOTHING and just winning by cautions. Metehan Basar for sure and I can add Nemes to the list as well. he won last year title only by cautions if I'm not wrong he scored one "real" point in the whole competition ! and maybe the Norwegian guy Stig Andre Berge. and there was a guy from Denmark Mark Madsen. I assume he is retired now.

but nobody is even close to Nabi for me. this guy won several medals by poor luck. I'm sure you guys think I'm exaggerating but if you watch his matches in youtube you won't find him executing a technique or something. he is a two time World Champion ! he is just hard to score on. that's the only thing I give him credit for.

well I hate to see the medals being decided outside the mat. that was indeed a 4pts throw in1st period. things would be different with a 4-1 on scoreboard. I give credit to the Swedish guy he was willing to take the risk. when you are losing it doesn't matter if it's by 1pt or 10. you have to take the risk. only if our wrestlers were as brave as him.

now the last match, let's see what's their plan to give the gold to Lorincz. :d he should not be in the final in first place. Kim got robbed against him last night

On a personal note, I don't mind Nabi winning medals since Estonia doesn't win too many and I support them. Although given the bracket I was surprised to see Kayaalp losing to him.

surprise surprise. no fishy call in the final. that was a real fight. in last 2 minutes I was expecting a caution and point for Lorincz but fortunately this time they let the better wrestler wins.

and what Hungarian coach was thinking asking for that challenge in first period ? another free gift ?!

I also don't mind Estonia medal in any other sport and or even in wrestling by any other wrestler. just not this guy. I just can't stop myself disliking people getting what they don't deserve. in Nabi's case this is happening for him so many times.

yeah he didn't let Kayaalp score, which is a big thing but he also didn't score himself. caution for both of them , Kayaalp was leading 1-1 and while both of them were doing nothing, they gave Kayaalp another passivity caution in last 40 seconds , gifting the match to Nabi. I know someone has to win in situations like this when they are doing nothing but Nabi was no way the "more active" wrestler. he is always "more passive"

    • Does the CAS have the authority to address from someone who believes the judges made a mistake in a given discipline? Pizzolato's last attempt at Paris 2024, which earned him the bronze medal, was controversial, but what does the CAS have to do with it? Even if the judges made a mistake then, the result won't change and this isn't the only case where someone feels wronged with this in world of sports. Unless, of course, they have some evidence of corruption or something like that
    • If Pizzolato will to return, would it be to the 86 kg category, or the 94 kg category, like Nasar? In 2024, they were both in the 89 kg category, which will no longer be at the Olympics, but in 2021 in Tokyo, Pizzolato won a medal in the 81 kg category.   Of course, it's unclear what's going on with the rape accusations- personally, unfortunately, I don't think he was ever a sweet angel- he was accused of other immoral things also 10 years ago, but gang rape? I find that hard to believe... Besides, Moldova has appealed about his bronze medal from Paris 2024 to the CAS- the verdict was supposed to be in February. Do you know anything about this? Did they have any grounds for this lawsuit at all?
    • Ukraine won 6 gold medals out of 10 in the women's competotion  + 1 silver and 1 bronze. Where do they get these girls from? It's always been a strong country, but they have never dominated like this. I wonder if their training methods would work in another country and if their coaches have any offerts to job from other countries? However, there is a significant decline in women's judo in Ukraine, so maybe they have directed all their resources and money towards wrestling?   In fact, Ukraine dominates Europe as much as Japan does the world- they have the best school in women's wrestling. In 2024, Ukraine only won 1 silver medal at the Paris Olympics? So even domination in Europe doesn't guarantee even 1 gold medal at the Olympics. Although, of course, if Italy for example, can't even win 1 bronze medal at the European Championships, then there's no point in even going to the World Championships...
    • Sablikova started on the road cycling and just almost qualified for Rio 2016. Maybe Lollobrigida would like to join the Italian track team? She has the good character and 2 medals at the Olympics, one in winter and one in summer, would be a legendary achievement, not only in Italy.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martina_Sáblíková
    • One Wiebes is worth more than the all Italian team with Balsamo/Fidanza, etc., that much clear. Even if the Netherlands loses its dominance in the men's sprint, Wiebes will win 2-3 gold medals in other events. Just relax, man.
    • I'm most worried about our women's team in the pursuit – we have a reserve squad, but not advancing to the top 8 is a shame. We recently competed with out 1 team and had not good in 1 round. It doesn't look good. And the Netherlands are already taking Wiebes to the track team and will soon dominate the Madison/Omnium as well. Balsamo and Paternoster haven't made any progress for years and the our women's team at the Olympics has little chance to win a medal. Italy might even win World Championship/European Championship gold in the years after the Olympics, etc., but when the real fight comes, the UK or the USA will always beat us
    • Track cycling is one of the few sports where there is no host nation quota, so  will need to work hard to achieve our quotas.  It's not our best sport, but was happy to see Top 10 results in the Elimination Race for Grant Koontz and Emma Jimenez Palos (who is just 18!).
    • Yes, I saw the same thing you did @clemsonbeav (on both accounts) but I agree it looks pretty stock.
