FWIW Christa Deguchi confirmed in an interview w/ Radio-Canada that she’s committed through Paris 2024 at least. She mentions that she took a few months off training after failing to qualify for the Olympics but that her love for the sport has come back.

Good luck, She makes a mistake to stay 57kg category with Jessica Klimkait ...

She's quite capable in defeating Klimkait on any given day. Going up or down a weightclass isn't easy either plus the -63kg also has a great athlete while the -52kg has her sister

According to the last entry update for the next two IJF World Tour events (Hungary GS / Zagreb GP)

Christa will not participate in the GrandSlam Hungary, she was before this week's update, but she will participate in the Grand Prix Zagreb.

For me Christa is B Plan, It will be VERY difficult for Duguchi to qualify in the -57kg if Klimkait have no major injury.

Klimkait is  more constant than Deguchi since last 3 Years.

Judo Canada Paris 2024 Selection Policy : JUD_P24_INP_Final_Sept_24.pdf (judocanada.org)

The rule in case if two or more athletes are allocated a quota place (like u57kg with Klimkait // Deguchi)

Quote

Case 2:
In a weight class in which two or more athletes are allocated a quota place as per the IJF Olympic list, the following cumulative point system will be used to rank them.

The first ranked athlete, in total points, will be nominated to the COC for inclusion on the Olympic Team.

The second-ranked athlete will be nominated as alternate.

1) In the case that a World championship is added in 2024 before the Olympic Games: Athlete with the better ranking, 1st to 7th, at the 2024 world championships in the weight class of the selection (2pts);
2) Athlete with the best ranking in the IJF Olympic List, as of June 25, 2024, in the weight class of the selection (2pts);
3) Athlete with the better ranking, 1st to 7th, at the 2023 world championships in the weight class of the selection (2pts);
4) Athlete with the better ranking, 1st to 7th, at the 2022 world championships in the weight class of the selection (1pts);

In the case of a tie between the top two ranked athletes, the athlete with the best IJF Olympic ranking as of June 25, 2024, will be selected.

For now, Klimkait have 3 point vs 0 for Deguchi

    • 2 things...   first, for what concerns the cooperation between inline skating and speedskating federations...sorry to disppoint some of you, but there's a great cooperation between them   the point is that many "summer" skaters just don't want to try the ice because they have too much to give up for that   you name places like Collalbo or Baselga, but for the "summer skating" guys from centeral and southern regions it's not an option, it's not that they make it for a living with those disciplines, they have to focus on their studies and build a post-competitive sport career and they just can't place themselves into a hole in the mountains when they maybe are studying in some prestigious universities in the big cities   as I already posted more than once, the idea of covering one of those tracks in the mountains was something idiotic, a political concession impossible to be sustained   the one and only chance to build a true legacy and an efficient, attractive national training center was to build a permanent indoor oval in Milan, beside the Forum   that would have given all the "summer skaters" a true opportunity to try the ice experience and at the same time find the most useful, attractive, prestigious places to continue their studies and try and manage them together with their sports career   any other place wouldn't stand a chance   second...don't give Salvini any credit he doesn't deserve...actually, I think he doesn't even know that in Cortina there's a sliding sports track    it's not thanks to him that the Cortina track's building finally went underway
