With the Paris Olympics coming up, I decided to construct a list on potential athletes for our eventual Olympic squad for Paris. I’ll be doing my best to update some of the results from these athletes (if not already reported about) heading into the Canadian Olympic Trials. When the Canadian Olympic Trials are over and our Olympic squad is set, I’ll be doing the same thing for athletes heading into Paris. To make it easier for me I’m only including names that have had performances either in 2023 or 2024, which means that names like Knight and McBride are not on the list. Also, for SBs/PBs none of the races are short track or have wind above 2.0m/s.

I might be missing a few names, let me know if I am.

Part 1 (100-1500m) **

** I’ll be doing this in three parts, part two will be 5000m/10000m, 3000m Steeplechase and 110m/100m/400m hurdles, then in the third update I’ll be doing field events, combined events, race walking, and the marathon.

Canada has clinched a men’s 4x400m relay quota for the World Athletics Relays! :cheer:

With that, all five relays will be going to the Bahamas! (hopefully I’m not celebrating prematurely but the deadline is today and we’re still in 32nd so…)

Last bit of spam for now.

Last Sunday, Evan Dunfee placed 2nd in men’s 20km at the Podebrady Race Walking meet, recording a time of 1:18.41! 37 seconds outside of his PB which was set at last years World Championships, so he’s looking to be in fine form at the moment.

    • We never beat Canada in the WJC so yeah that would be a major upset... we were mega close in that goddamned quarterfinal when Bedard "Bellinghamed" us in the last overtime minute. I doubt we will be any closer of that in the next decade.   won in all its history only 3 matches in world juniors preliminary Round and never over a top tier nation so this win over Canada in CAN is certainly one of the biggest upsets of this sport comparable to - QF in Salt Lake or - Katowice madness or Squaw Valley MOI
    • But if we would have done it, no one would call it a surprise :(

    • The Italian team bought a wax- bus from Sweden before the season and acquired head of their serviceman, so maybe that's the reason? The investment hasn`t been successful so far, because there is still a void beyond Pellegrino and these young skiers aren`t mentally ready for a tough fight.   Once there was a skier from Poland - Justyna Kowalczyk, who fought with the whole coalition of Norwegians at that time: Bjoergen, Johaug etc. Thanks to her strong psyche she was able to win difficult finishes with Bjoergen. Diggins is doing the same now - she gives 120%. This is the only way you can win with Norwegians. Apart from Pellegrino I don't see anyone in our team who has the ambition and the will to fight.
    • Diggins and Pellegrino have never had great physical conditions but their mental have always been on point. The entire American team is brave and ambitious. On the other hand the Italian team is physically weak and has no ambition. There is no visible will to fight and progress is born in the head- that`s says once Filippo Ganna.
