How are the Points distributed in the final?

for each event, 1 one point for 1st place , 2 for 2nd place and the same for the rest.

but for example in case of tie for 1st place they give 1.5 points to each one.

and they multiply those points at the end and less points means better place

That's great, than Hojer has a medal because Ondra beat all the Japanese climbers in lead. :yes

yes, despite a poor Lead (as expected), he's going to finish ahead of the Japanese trio...

meanwhile Schubert needs to be at least 4th in the Lead event to win the Combined Gold (otherwise it's Ondra getting the job done)...

Nice that they're showing this 'recon' phase as well, it's fun to see how the athletes are checking everything carefully but also having some fun together :d

By the way, can someone explain me this combined format (for the final at least)?

I just saw speed, and I understand how the rankings were made. But will we have a 'full' boulder competition now with 6 athletes doing 4 boulders, so potentially 24x4 minutes and then a 6xlead competition?

    • That was known from the start for  and will be planned for.   Sadly just the reality of sports in North America. Canada and the US are both huge, a flight from Vancouver to Halifax or from Seattle to Miami is north of five hours. Every sports league in North America has to deal with this kind of travel logistics on the regular, so none of this will seem particularly unusual to a North American player.
    • That’s not a long distance, it’s barely a 2h flight and there is no difference in timezone. Easily doable for fans as well.
