road speedskating, of course, is a bit different...

 

The original plan for Toronto 2015, was to use the triathlon stadium area for roller speed skating. But it was rejected by the IF and this last minute venue was used.

 

By the way the 500k floor famount was for the Roller Figure skating event.

Even without boxing, Cuba has always been a strong week 2 at multi-sport games.

Meanwhile, Canada is pretty weak.  Maybe a couple of chances in rowing tomorrow.  An upset in a team sport (Canada is a strong 2nd in field hockey, water polo, softball and maybe basketball, but hard to come away with a gold).  Going to have to muster something in wrestling, BMX, and athletics to keep up.  It just seems that there is always someone better in everything, hence all the silvers.  Canada is good at team sports, but there is always one country better, that sort of thing.

Canada is more of a generalist when it comes to sports. Sure there are sports that are better for us than others, but we have a wider range than most nations. This makes us competitive in many events, but when it comes to winning gold there usually seems to be a nation (or two or three) that's better.
