Wait, a non-participating nation participated in a qualifying event where quota are won for an event in which said nation doesn't participate?

Well, I guess the athlete had the right to compete, but they should've put him under some kind of "neutral" flag or something.

For now, I've placed him under "PASO" in the first post.

Oh wow. That's just dumb. They should have chosen before the competition. They have sent boxers in all categories minus 3, so I assumed AMBC provided them with just 3 host quotas (the qualification document says max of 7)

I agree... they should have chose pick their host quotas before not after... but it seems PASO is still a long way from learning how to properly write a qualification process.

So apparently there was some sort of confusion/mistake in a matchup between :ANT and :ARG at the boxing qualifiers. :ARG originally won, but the decision was overturned, and :ANT was given the decision (and the Lima 2019 quota). Any details?

Still, not so many news or complete results. It seems each NOC or national federation is just focussing (obviously) in their own boxers.

My thoughts exactly... they may allow him as an Independent Pan American athlete.

FWIW, Panamsports did not publish his name as list of qualifiers.

They also posted multiple people who had already qualified, and they didn’t use the correct event.

    • There is a saying to never trust a Russian in gymnastics. Well, ex-Russian turned Bulgarian Elvira Krasnobaeva is transferring now to Armenia.   The "official" reason is for personal, family matters, but in reality it's most likely because she wasn't selected for Paris, which angered her parents. Even though she is only 16, had her breakthrough just this year and started making mistakes, when they amped up the difficulty.   Our Federation's President Iliana Raeva said today, that she received calls also from France and Azerbaijan about Elvira's mother basically auctioning her. Raeva mentioned, that Krasnobaeva was going to be a vocal point in the next Olympic cycle, but now she can hit the road and missed her chance to ever compete for Bulgaria, even if she wanted to in the future.    We are also going to make a new Group from next season. After the disappointment in Paris, 4 out of the 5 girls announced their retirement.
    • true, but was expecting India to get troubles from Australia, not from New Zealand, and specially not by being bowled out. Makes the group phase interesting though
    • The 4th best team in the world beating the 3rd best team in the world is not a huge surprise though.
    • I’ve been recently introduced by some friends to cricket (or the t20 version of it, at least) and actually liked it so I’m following the World Cup that’s happening during this month
