Bergsma wins the 10000m in a very solid 12:42, which clinches his spot on the Olympic team (not that it was ever really in doubt, he should also be selected for the mass start and the team pursuit). Roest is second, adding another distance.

The day's big winner is Sven Kramer.

lol NOS is making fun of :SWE van der Poel for not speaking Dutch.

"If the Dutch produce a suit that is 20 seconds faster over the 10k then maybe they have a chance to beat me"

They weren't exactly making fun of him, he started about hearing his name but not understanding it :p

Bergsma in the team pursuit? :hairpull:

Most likely it will be Marcel Bosker, probably at the cost of a sprinter..

Kramer, Roest, Bosker are teammates, so that would be a major advantage compared to a team with two Jumbo guys and....well, loner Bergsma.

    • Aaaand the aforementioned  Gaia Brunello has put down a 36th place in Arber today, 2:35 minutes behind the winner, resulting in 116 IBU points. For World Cup qualification one needs an average of under 150 at the end of a trimester...or one result of under 125 in the current or previous trimester, so if I'm not mistaken, she has immediately qualified for next week's World Cup!   Great start. We are definitely hoping she stays in biathlon only and this start helps
    • This is the most incompatible with my sleeping schedule tennis event ever but I will still watch it.  I've seen a few qualifying games but time to step up my tennis watching with the main draw.

    • Draws are now out: https://ausopen.com/draws   As usual, some intriguing first round matchups.   ‪Osaka/Garcia and Gauff/Kenin are the main ones that stand out on the women’s side, while for the men it’s Hurkacz/Griekspoor, Dimitrov/Fognini and Monfils/Mpetshi Perricard, but there’s so many quality matchups that it’s tough to only pick a couple. I’m interested to see who Fonseca draws as a Q, that’ll be a matchup players want to avoid.

Since there’s a lot for me to catch up on, I’ll probably do it all over the next couple of days.
