Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024 Qualification Systems

Recommended Posts

Fencing continues with the shitty system. Totally favoring teams and big nations :(

Judo with smaller changes: 17 best from ranking (instead of 18) per category but with 5 invitation to ensure more teams in mixed event

Taekwondo: Unchanged I think (totally unfair against big nations:)

Blame the IOC for that one, they cut 14 athlete quotas in judo.

Usually I dislike it when sports cut their tripartite quotas, but for judo it probably doesn't hurt much, the old system guaranteed 121 different nations so cutting it down to 116+ nations isn't the end of the world. It'll also help prevent the mixed team event from having an embarrassing low amount of teams (2020 was okay, but there could be situations where we'll struggle to get 8+ teams in the old system).

I don’t think it was mentioned yet, but there’s also a chance for universality quotas in golf now.

will france have all the teams in collective sport qualified for tokyo?

Not sure that France will be qualified for Field Hockey. It's look like the same fact than Team Brazil in Rio 2016.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
    • Today : Jordan 3-0 Egypt  This team will surprise us
    • option no.2 for sure, as it's been all this shitstorm organized by the nhl owners through their embedded reporters   ps not that the north american audience looks really aware of the hockey rules and habits outside the nhl (and around their game, too, since they look not to know that just a couple of weeks ago they played 2 nhl matches on an ice sheet of the exact same size of Milan's olympic arena)
    • Are we supposed to take Daly's word for it or is this just public posturing to try and shame the Milan organizers (which they certainly deserve for all the delays) in order to threaten NHL participation?
