Danilovic has a very good draw to make the quarterfinals, if she does it she will be the first Serbian woman to make a slam QF since Ana Ivanovic at RG 2015!

Men's Basketball FIBA Olympic Qualification Tournaments 2024
Makedonas replied to George_D's topic in Basketball
Yeah I'm pretty sure we won't qualify as usual, on paper we should have qualified for London, Rio, and Tokyo but always something goes wrong whether it is multiple injured players or another country playing their best game ever against us (Nigeria in 2012 and Czechs in 2021) or the NBA season running into mid July or a combination of these -

I’ll do that after week 2 probably. Still a lot of matches to be played. -
Things You Would Change in Sports?
mpjmcevoy replied to Federer91's topic in Totallympics Mixed Zone
We already do that split though - the first week is 'tentpoled' by Swimming and the second by athletics; what is being suggested is simply having a third 'tentpole' - the only change I'd make is that I'd add cycling to gymnastics to keep the second week tight. I've always liked the three week idea as it gives time for variety, ebb and flow. I would also have a mid games 'ceremony' to celebrate for the first tranch of leavers and the second tranch of arrivals. I'd make a 'free sport in the city' a centre piece of each of the four week ends - Weekend 1: Cycling Road Races. Weekend 2: Individual Triathlons and cycllng TT. Weekend 3: Race walks and Triathlon relay. Weekend 4 Marathons. I would not leave the main stadium empty for a week. Sevens should be there through most of week 2. I would introduce a form of field archery at the mountain bike circuit when the bikers are done. I'd bring back karate, and make a point of having the three oriental combat sports back to back to back using the same venue - a real life fight club. I'd do something in the urban core not dissimilar to free sport in the city, some kind of pop up ampithetre for BMX freestyle flatland, parkour etc What other sports could share venues in a longer games to reduce costs? i'd also suggest rotating some big team sports; Baseball and Cricket, most obviously - once every eight years would really make each event mean something, and the larger family of bat-and-ball sports would always be represented. -

Have you done an analysis on what gap (in points) is needed to guarantee a quota? -
Eh. Germany played really well today but I thought they were unlikely to cause the upset with how Canada have been playing, and the fact that they don’t have Orthmann (still recovering from injury?) and Drewniok (who retired from the national team again after week) on the team.
-
Good win by Canada, Germany felt like a trap opponent that could have costed a lot of points. face tomorrow. A win for the Netherlands will grant them big points, this is something probably needed if they want to catch Canada.

Canada sweep Germany during match 6 of Women’s VNL, improving their record to 4-2! With that we increase our lead to 13.7 points over Netherlands for the final spot at Paris! (Although Netherlands do take on a depleted Dominican Republic squad early tomorrow, which should close down the gap momentarily) Canada played really well today. 54 attack points, 8 blocks, 7 aces, 6 opponent errors, and 11 unforced errors. 6 of the unforced errors were from Kiera Van Ryk Wish we played like this against the United States. Gray was probably the player of the match for us, but Mitrovic has a great game as well, very efficient with her attacking. -
sweep 6.52 points towards our World Ranking, increasing our lead over Netherlands for the final Olympic quota to 13.7 points!! KVR put up a few errors near the end (hasn’t been having the best of weeks), but redeemed herself with 4 control blocks on set point, and the game winning swing into the corner.

63 Teilnehmer für 3 Quotenplätze...und das in einem Kampf-Wettbewerb.

I agree with having it 3 weeks, but I’m not sure that I would like having each week split apart to dedicated sports. I quite like having the ability to flip between different sports as it makes it feel more like a singular event compared to back to back championships.

Alsmeier is so fine

AND WE’VE DONE IT AGAIN!! All four Canadians are through to the 3rd round!! Special shoutout to Andresscu, who recovered from an error prone opening set to upset Kalinskaya in 3.
