    This defeat against was pretty much the last nail on China's coffin. If they manage a win versus Italy (very unlikely), then we could see a repeat of the 2016 scenario - with last Olympic final being now the QF match. Scary moment at Brazil's match today with the injury of our best setter, but at least we secured second place - which doesn't mean anything, since all 4 qualifiers from Group B are stronger than the teams we've faced so far.

    Also with 8 gold medals already (with at least 1 more to come)? That Bet Contest goal was easily met.

    Was too tired and completely missed this medal. Mayra Aguiar bronze in three consecutive Olympics, the first brazilian woman with three medals in individual events. I didn't think could get 2 medals here after a terrible cycle, so expectations exceeded.

    I was crushed seeing the mexican shooter missing the podium after a terrific start.

    Gold for and Bronze for ? This must be one of the best events for Totallympics members.

    You do realize that because the code of points change every Olympic cycle each time we'll see lower scores? It's the same for Women's, where Biles is (was?) the only one that could potentially hit 60, where in previous cycles that was easier.

    Not sure if it was undeserving, but every close call seems to go in Japan's favour.

    For me the biggest surprise from Brazil in team sports will be if we actually manage to reach QF being in the "group of death".

    lol Do we even have to watch the final to know that the japanese will win gold?

    Scheffer This will probably be THE surprise medal for Brazil at these Games.

    Brazil on par with what I've expected so far but I think we'll struggle to get the elusive gold medal (that usually takes at least 5 or 6 days).

    That means our flagbearer Ketleyn Quadros will start on Round of 16.

    I can't bother to watch/root for this brazilian team with so many unlikable players (Douglas being an obvious exception and maybe a few others). I only care if they win a medal because it would be one more for the table.

    Listen, I'm 33, I definitely don't know what kids like these days, but I think it's more likely they're into something like this than, let's say, Modern Pentathlon. Of course being from an "older" generation, I like all the traditional Olympic sports, but the inclusion of new ones doesn't bother me that much.
