I have nothing against France. I'm only not rooting for them in Women's Football during the World Championships because of the Olympic qualification. I've rooted against all European Teams except Germany and Scotland (who aren't able to qualify) for this reason and I could understand if someone from another european Country would root against Germany for this reason.

It's not that hopeless. Only one mixed double per NOC can qualify, and Japan as host is already qualified and can't win a second place. So at least in the later stages, when most big table Tennis countries are already qualified, Slovakia should have a realistic chance.

But obviously he at least guessed, that France wouldn't go for a win at all costs either. And I don't think playing Spain in the semis is in any way easier than playing Germany. That being said, I agree that neither Romania nor France are to blame. The fault lies with Italy for losing to Poland and of course with the system, which is simply nuts and basically asked for situations like this. What France and Romania did wasn't any worse than China obviously playing for a draw against Spain at the Women's World Cup, because they knew that they would reach the knock out stage with 4 points. It's only when Germany and Austria do it, that people still talk about it nearly 40 years later.

I think Germany has a quota place in Mixed Air pistol. Christian Reitz has the MQS in 10m AIr Pistol, so does for example Monika Karsch. Therefore both are allowed to start in Air Pistol Event at the Olympics, meaning Germany should have the quota place in the mixed. Surely one can't punish athletes like Reitz, because they happened to qualify in another discipline first?
