  1. Martina Ariano Kent and Charly Laliberte-Laurent won bronze in the pairs event at the junior world championships
  2. I remember there was a Vietnamese woman who was close to qualifying in monobob last Olympics. Anyone know if they're still competing?
  3. Summer McIntosh did an interciew with our network, CBC. She says she'll swim 5 events at the upcoming world championships. She also said that this will be the last year she trains at her current base with the Sarasota sharks. She's eying training with Bob Bowman who is currently Leon Marchands current coach.
  4. Loutitt is better at the large hill so this bodes well for her
  5. and we have 5 new basic quotas from the men's sprint qualification: now up to 57 NOC's with a men's basic quota
  6. If my calculations are correct, we have 4 new basic Olympic quotas from the women's sprint qualification: That means that we would have 42 qualified NOC's for women.
  7. You can only qualify through FIS points earned at U23 championships or world championships so this race is the first time an Irish skiier has met the requirements. Maloney Westgaard should help Ireland secure more quotas through the nations ranking because of his World cup results though. Andorra also doesn't have the men's basic quotas yet but they should get it on Saturday.
  8. Unfortunately, I had a very busy day at work so I wasn't able to follow along on here. In total, we had 22 new basic quotas from the men's qualification race
  9. I believe we got 10 new basic quotas from the women's race:
  10. It doesn't matter what place they finish in as long as they finish with 300 or less FIS points in the race. This document describes the calculation process. In summary, the FIS points earned are dependent upon the winner's time, your own time, and a factor level for that race determined by FIS.
  11. Anyone know if the qualification races on Wednesday count towards the Olympic nations ranking?
  12. Excellent! The two teams I wanted to qualify qualified. Both Taiwan and Nicaragua live and breathe baseball and it would've been disappointing to see either of them miss out. I have nothing against Spain itself but having their team qualifying would've been a joke. Only ONE player on the team was born in Spain. The rest are players from the DR, Venezuela and Cuba who had some great grand parent who came from Spain.
  13. I hope they find a way to schedule the gold medal hockey game later. If the final is Canada/USA, then it will start at the unfriendly hours of 4am PST/7am EST
  14. Silver for Laurent Dubreuil in the 2nd 500m Bronze for Ivanie Blondin in the mass start Silver for Canada in the women's team sprint
  15. I've only realized now that Taiwan has just ONE player on their qualification roster that were part of the Premier 12 winning team last November. According to a commenter on reddit, the Taiwanese management wanted to select younger players to give them international experience because they thought that qualification would be a breeze
  16. Day 3 Scores: 9-1 6-0 Nicaragua officially qualifies. Baseball is incredibly popular in the country so I'm really happy for them. Taiwan and Spain will play for one more qualification spot on Tuesday.
  17. With the completion of the European and Four Continents championships, we now have our first sample of what the team standings look like for the Olympics next year. Top 10 teams qualify for the Team Event. 18. I would expect a competitive game that could go both ways. Nicaragua will be riding the momentum from their 2-0 start to qualification and their pitching has been great so far. Taiwan should be the favorite but for some reason, they decided to not select a bunch of players that were on the team that won the Premier 12 tournament and opted for younger players. However, the home crowd will be a huge advantage for them still.
  19. Well, the women's relay got lapped. That was disappointing. Men's relay somehow didn't get lapped and finished in 17th while Kazakhstan finished in last and got lapped so that's good news
  20. Scores from Day 2: 1-2 9-1 Updated Standings: Nicaragua: 2-0 Spain: 1-1 Taiwan: 1-1 South Africa: 0-2
  21. Two golden goals 15 years apart. The torch has officially been passed from Crosby to McDavid. Sidney Crosby Golden Goal - Heard from 16 different TV Broadcasts - Olympics 2010 (HD) GOTTA SEE IT: Connor McDavid Wins 4 Nations Face-Off For Canada In Overtime
  22. Came in 1st place among humans though.
  23. First day of qualification is in the books. 2-1 12-5 South Africa almost completed the upset over Nicaragua and Taiwan had an absolutely embarrassing showing against Spain
  24. CONNOR MCDAVID WINS IT IN OT!!! Also shout-out Jordan Binnington for some incredible saves
