  1. Not surprisingly, Summer McIntosh has scratched the 100m backstroke
  2. Canadian Olympic Trials: Day 2 Men's 400m Individual Medley (OQT: 4:12.50) 1. Tristan Jankovics - 4:11.74 Q 2. Lorne Wigginton - 4:13.60 3. Collyn Gagne - 4:16.90 An absolutely sensational swim by Jankovics to beat his PB by almost 6 seconds and get under the OQT. Disappointing for Wigginton though who's PB was just 0.31 off the OQT coming into trials. Women's 200m Freestyle (OQT: 1:57.26) 1. Summer McIntosh - 1:53.69 Q 2. Mary-Sophie Harvey - 1:55.44 Q 3. Julie Brousseau - 1:57.60 Q 4. Emma O'Croinin - 1:57.86 Q 5. Ella Jansen - 1:58.25 6. Brooklyn Douthwright - 1:58.49 Much better swim today from Summer. The commentators seemed to imply that she won't be swimming this event at the Olympics though. Harvey continues her amazing form earning another individual swim and is now the 7th fastest swimmer in the Olympic qualification period. Also great to see Brousseau and O'Croinin make their first Olympic team with PBs. Jansen and Douthwright also put themselves into consideration for selection. Notably, Penny Oleksiak finished 9th in 2:00.18. Men's 100m Backstroke (OQT: 53.74) 1. Blake Tierney - 53.48 Q 2. Javier Acevedo - 53.55 Q 3. Aiden Norman - 53.99 PB's for all of the top 3 swimmers. Women's 100m Breaststroke (OQT: 1:06.79) 1. Sophie Angus - 1:06.96 Q 2. Kelsey Wog - 1:07.00 3. Sydney Pickrem - 1:07.27 By far the most disappointing event of the session. Coming into trials, we had 3 women who had already swum under the OQT and two others at 1:07 low and none of them reached it tonight. Angus qualifies by placing 1st and since she has the OQT from 2024 World Championships, she'll be able to swim the individual 100 breaststroke too. It remains to be seen whether or not Swimming Canada will select one of the other breaststrokers who already have an OQT. Looks like it'll be a 4th place finish in the medley relay. Qualifiers after Day 2: 10 Swimmers (3 men + 7 women) Priority 1: Swimmers finishing in the top 2 in an event at Olympic Trials with OQT (6 swimmers) Javier Acevedo - Men's 100m Backstroke Mary-Sophie Harvey - Women's 200m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly Tristan Jankovics - Men's 400m Individual Medley Maggie Mac Neil - Women's 100m Butterfly Summer McIntosh - Women's 200m Freestyle, 400m Freestyle Blake Tierney - Men's 100m Backstroke Priority 2: Relay swimmers (top 4 in 100/200m freestyle + stroke 100 winners not in Priority 1) (4 swimmers) Sophie Angus - Women's 4x100m Medley Relay (Has the W 100m breaststroke OQT outside of trials) Julie Brousseau - Women's 4x200m Freestyle Relay Finlay Knox - Men's 4x100m Medley Relay Emma O'Croinin - Women's 4x200m Freestyle Relay
  3. He is the personal coach of Tang Qianting, who recently went 1:04 in the womens 100 breaststroke at their trials
  4. Nicholas Bennett broke his own Canadian record in the SB14 100m breaststroke today
  5. Btw, if you guys think these trials have been disappointing, you clearly didn't watch Brazilian trials from last week Yes, there's been a few disappointing results and events but there's been a lot of positive results as well! It's bound to happen at any meet Hopefully the good swims outweighs the disappointing swims for the next 5 days
  6. The OQT actually seems achievable for him given how much time he dropped today
  7. There are discretionary picks. They might just select one of them anyways, who knows
  8. Happy for Angus! At least she has the OQT from 2024 world championships so she'll still be able to swim the individual event. and she's been the best relay breaststroker over the last year. Disappointing times elsewhere though. Though likely two of Pickrem, Wog and Lepage will still qualify through the 200. Gutted for Branton as that basically confirms she won't be going to Paris
  9. Also great swims for Norman 53.99 and Dommann 54.06. Norman looks like the future of Canadian Backstroke
  10. He only has the b standard in the 400 IM so he can't swim it as long as Jankovics is in. Maybe Swimming Canada will give him another shot to get it at the Mare Nostrum or something
  11. If he finishes top 2, definitely. Though I can't see any other events he could get the OQT in. Maybe the 2IM? Best chance is the 4x200 relay
  12. Jankovics could potentially qualify in the 200 IM too. His PB is just a bit more than a second off the OQT
  13. Price is basically retired. Surely you got to go with one of the Vegas goalies (Hill, Thompson) as well
  14. Gonna be an absolute dogfight in the women's 200 free and 100 breast tonight. Can't wait!
  15. Canadian Olympic Trials: Day 1 Men's 400m Freestyle (OQT: 3:46.78) 1. Alexander Axon - 3:50.10 2. Eric Brown - 3:52.27 3. Jeremy Bagshaw - 3:52.87 Women's 400m Freestyle (OQT: 4:07.90) 1. Summer McIntosh - 3:59.06 Q 2. Julie Brousseau - 4:08.12 3. Julia Strojnowska - 4:11.08 Was expecting Summer to be a little bit faster here. It looked like she took it out hard early and was under world record pace after 100 meters but then fell off the pace more and more after each 50m. Julie Brousseau was so close to the OQT missing it by 0.22 seconds. It bodes well for her 200 free tomorrow though where she'll have a great chance to qualify. Women's 100m Butterfly (OQT: 57.92) 1. Maggie Mac Neil - 56.61 Q 2. Mary-Sophie Harvey - 57.31 Q 3. Rebecca Smith - 57.89 Was also expecting Mac Neil to be a big faster here as well since she 56.54 in prelims. Great swims by both Harvey and Smith who both got under the OQT. Men's 100m Breaststroke (OQT: 59.49) 1. Finlay Knox - 1:00.66 Q 2. Apollo Hess - 1:00.99 3. Brayden Taivassalo - 1:01.10 Despite not reaching the OQT, Knox will be selected for the Olympic team for the medley relay. Qualifiers after Day 1: 4 Swimmers (1 man + 3 women) Priority 1: Swimmers with an OQT finishing in the top 2 in an event Mary-Sophie Harvey - Women's 100m Butterfly Maggie Mac Neil - Women's 100m Butterfly Summer McIntosh - Women's 400m Freestyle Priority 2: Relay swimmers (top 4 in 100/200m freestyle + stroke 100 winners not in Priority 1) Finlay Knox - Men's 4x100m Medley Relay
  16. Also if Jansen does end up making the team, Swimming Canada will probably let her swim the 400 free since she has the OQT already
  17. It is a PB for Brousseau by 3 seconds though. Look out for her tomorrow in the 200 free
