  1. How is that so curious? Developing equipment is just as much part of a sport, like wax in skiing sports.. Besides, Laura Nolte has actually been consistently in the top of the field.
  2. These races actually give World Cup points? Surely they don't?
  3. I'm sitting up instead of laying down and eating my bread with hagelslag breakfast, no dozing off here mate The drugged up Brazilian next to me however....
  4. Going downhill when the air is 4 degrees colder than the snow must feel just fantastic
  5. Communication on the track sounds excellent for 04.30, every part of the track is expected to be fine then (and significantly better than half an hour ago).
  6. And that's it for international ski jumping from Zhangjiakou, I guess. Or ski jumping in general, I doubt we'll ever hear anything again from especially these Chinese guys... I hope I'm wrong, obviously, but this seems like a typical sport where they'll disappear back into nowhere.
  7. In World Cups or biathlon world championships there is no problem at all, it's their own sports' event, so do whatever they like. It's just nonsense to have a set of Olympic medals for what's essentially a qualifying event. But yeah, it's never going to change, so anyway. The chance is bigger to see the supersprint added at one point and the qualifying of the supersprint being awarded a set of medals as well later
  8. This is basically what the Dutch Eurosport commentator (a former World Cup biathlete) also often says: "Sure, there are the sprint gaps, but the races are still generally exciting and basically nobody finishes in the spot they started in!" Yeah. I mean...
  9. Buddy, no worries, quite literally everyone except for the IOC/ISU agrees with you Already since the rumours started of going from two heats to one heat this has been a huge point of discussion with basically nobody agreeing with it. But as I'm sure you're not surprised, ISU and IOC don't give two fucks about fair competition, so there we go.. By the way, research shows even on the 1000m two runs would be quite a lot more fair, although the difference is definitely smaller.
  10. Yeah today was a useful day in terms of catching up some sleep, alarm was at 06.30 instead of 02.30 Plenty of time to go back and watch the things from the night while skipping the less interesting parts, and be (almost) caught up now
  11. China might literally end up with a team event total which is lower than the score of almost every individual jumper in the other nations, judging by the trial round...
  12. Just now noticed the Tandrevold situation by the way, damn Hope she'll be fine..
  13. The only other forum where I talk about a biathlon, a Dutch one (very active at least during the Olympics, decent outside of it), always agrees with it being utter nonsense to have a set of Olympic medals both for a qualifying event and the 'main' event It's kind of like giving Olympic medals for the short program in figure skating, and then also one for the overall, whilst still counting the short program scores. It's perfectly fine for the world championships of said sports, but not so much for the Olympics, where events should be as much as possible stand-alone events, with everyone who starts having 'equal' chances (as far as possible of course).
  14. Time for the single most unfair and nonsensical event of the entire Olympic program, summer or winter. Ugh.
  15. China getting lapped a few hundred meters before going into the last lap
  16. Ok, it stayed well within a half hour of the Sochi times, but still, fresh snow, altitude, etc played their role
  17. To be fair, they're only 3 minutes or so slower than the same distance in the 15k earlier this week, while conditions are way, way harder and slower now. It's not that bad
  18. So instead of fitting perfectly in a nice gap in the schedule, it now comes exactly together with the cross-country relay At least both should still be done before biathlon starts
