  1. And the third one fell in the other heat. Damn.
  2. That's Grøvdal's fault?
  3. Simply because, in my opinion (and based on recent results), she was further from what can realistically be expected from her than Bonevacia was from what can realistically be expected from him. But I feel this is never going to end, because we won't agree anyway, so it'll be a matter of agreeing to disagree
  4. But that's not the point. Bonevacia does not run around 45 consistently. He should based on previous years, perhaps, but he doesn't and can't realistically be expected to do so. Klaver can realistically be expected to run under 50 seconds, as she so often does. This was just very poor for her, as she admitted very clearly herself as well. "I just totally lost control", is basically what she said as explanation for her rather big underperformance.
  5. Yes, but that is the standard one has to hold athletes to, especially in relays. Klaver should normally be about a second faster, that's part of why the Dutch team was the pre-race favourite. Bonevacia wasn't great, but definitely would not normally be as much faster as Klaver would be.
  6. Ugh, Grøvdal so much deserved that win Battocletti just glued to her wheel for 4900 meters, to use cycling terms.
  7. Awesome Irish gold! Bronze was the best possible, Klaver just was not good at all, Bonevacia was...mediocre. Klein Ikkink was excellent, Bol was...decent, especially considering the Italian guy got in her way at the exchange and she needed to brake to avoid him. Anyway, without that it would have been silver at best, Ireland was too good.
  8. Why did that happen?
  9. Doing so alone is a very impressive run indeed
  10. Also, not sure who mentioned it ( @Wumo I think?), but the 'hide finished' isn't as good as we had hoped. It does take away the spoilers, but it removes the entire event from the timetable, because European Athletics also uses that utterly idiotic system where they should the top-3 of medal events in the timetable Even worse, they automatically update that page, so you can't even open it and leave it open without refreshing it to keep it 'clean'
  11. Who on earth thought this would be a logical schedule? We've got like an hour of shot put qualifying and some high jump qualifying and nothing else, and then when the discus final starts we've got heats going on as well
  12. Wooohoooo we have a classic 'you cheered too early!' moment
  13. Yeah, but for today that didn't work, since I can't 'rewatch' those broadcasts For the other days, I'll probably record it, just in case, so I can watch it later if 'needed' (which I think it won't be, thanks to Swedish TV ).
  14. Race walk lap is highly unusually nice
  15. Thanks! Always good to have as a backup in case the Swedish one somehow stops At least the evening sessions are no problem: NOS, Belgian TV, BBC (the latter two can be recorded and then watched whenever).
  16. Did BBC happen to have a live stream that can still be viewed (with a VPN of course)? NOS doesn't, Belgian TV neither and Eurovision Sports does, but doesn't work. Edit: thank the lord for Swedish SVT! No need for logging in and always works perfectly with a VPN, how did I not think about that earlier (I use it so often in the winter)
  17. Oh fantastic, after a reload, it worked for 7 minutes until it crashed. Time for another reload (including the non-skippable full minute of ads). How I wish the old Eurovisionsports page from before this year was back
  18. As did Eurovision's page roughly 35 seconds after I started watching the replay of this morning's session (as I was off doing a little 105km bike ride ).
  19. Sure, but the suggestion kind of sounded like Azerbaijan is all the time competing with hands full of Austrian and Swiss skiers, but in the past it has been 1 Swiss, 1 Austrian (who had some contacy with/in Azerbaijan already so that kind of made sense) and 1 Russian/Georgian male, and 1 female Italian. Nothing like they do in other sports, and considering this is a 20-year period, there also isn't really much of a trend, so...not worried on the other hand...I don't think they started? But for them I would not be surprised if they pull out all the stops once they do..
  20. I would not, and that says quite something about my opinion on chess being Olympic
  21. Less than one hour to go until the polls close here. I did my democratic duty, although it was a tough choice simply because European elections really feel like a 'far away show'. Of the many dozens of people on the list, I know the name of literally only one person and that's because coincidentally I saw him in a debate last night (but didn't watch, because it was just...boring ). I was looking forward to a nice evening of results watching, but then found out the rest basically just votes on Sunday, so that was disappointing
  22. Chess being added and taking away even a single spot from any physical sport would make me so much madder than even breaking being added
  23. I love how they come up with a name for some event which says literally zero about what kind of event it is. If you hadn't specifically said you're a beach volleyball fan, I would not even have guessed the sport correctly
