  1. Second time defending champion Kaul is really losing some points, after his mediocre high jump.
  2. People are giving all kinds of reasons, but in the end I think it's simply a wave movement. Whatever people choose is not magically going to solve everything, if problem A gets better, problem B will get worse, and so on. That's going to keep happening, at some point the results will be the opposite of this again (and back, and back)
  3. By the way, what's with the modern-day trend of athletes having to walk around with their flag after a medal? That used to be a spontaneous act that sometimes someone did, now it's basically part of the obligatory celebrations with the flags for the whole top-3 simply being brought to them Why can't nice things just stay nice things
  4. Damn, can't say I would have guessed Mumenthaler would win the gold a week ago
  5. Ok, today it's a DQ. That's just Hartmann.
  6. False start, let's see which colour card the random card generator pulls out today.
  7. The best known single word in an Italian song ever, even, I highly doubt more than 5% of the people who are familiar with 'Volaaaaare' know anything else of the song (I certainly don't)
  8. Stadium speaker knows exactly one part of one song and that's it
  9. Of course, like with everything, pizza should be eaten exactly the way one likes it and not the way unwritten rules from grandma say
  10. Doom is going to celebrate his gold with, of course, a pizza "The food in the hotel is....not great, all the athletes are complaining about it, so I think tonight I'm going to go for something with taste"
  11. A little, but man, 50,52 for someone her age, she is having such an amazing year
  12. And a world lead, at least according to European Athletics who I guess didn't update their info yet. Belgian commentator just copied that statement, so we know he doesn't watch anything else besides this event....
  13. Oddest thing being that it was declared a DNS, while it very clearly was a DQ. On a side note: as someone who also writes articles about sports, don't you find it annoying that they literally write down the quotes, even when they are just....wrong? Like "they was just taking too long", "them blocks look like" and "we at a professional meet"
  14. Taking a wrong turn here is quite a performance in itself, in the last kilometer which - except for an easy roundabout - is literally a straight line
  15. If a second consecutive Olympic gold in a competitive event like the long jump, besides three world titles, doesn't make someone one of the greatest athlete a country has ever produced*, said country must absolutely be legendarily good at sports *not just looking at the popularity of the sport, which judging by your words about basketball might be his biggest 'problem'?
  16. Well that's a mess by those judges...
  17. What did Kamga do to have three efforts voided?
  18. How I love cycling Final stage in the Tour of Britain today. Everyone on the picture, except for the Australian jersey, is Team SD Worx. Kopecky (green) came out of the last turn with a nice lead, Wiebes (bib 2, red) would then normally finish off the sprint as she is by far the world's fastest sprinter. However, they wanted to give a chance to always loyal helper Christine Majerus (Luxembourg jersey) to finish it off with a relatively easy and rare opportunity. Majerus celebrated, but Ruby Roseman-Gannon passed her on the line and so everyone of SD Worx ended up angry
  19. And Roglic holds on with maybe 4-5 seconds
  20. Roglic in big trouble in the last kilometers of the Dauphiné. He has 1:02 on Jorgenson, but is losing time very quickly and can only afford under 20 seconds more in the last kilometer.
  21. Nice to have the medal ceremony in the stadium for the half marathons, instead of having it way later at some separate venue with people who weren't really part of it and with the adrenaline and emotion all gone.
  22. Right, that definitely makes it clear there's some mistake in the code
  23. Sure that will be fixed, the German women's silver is also not counted yet, but oddly the Spanish bronze is Edit: British gold is listed as well, I guess someone made a mistake in the code for counting the table or something. https://live.european-athletics.com/ECH2024/lrs/medallists/ATH/ALL/GBR
