  1. Kind of similar feelings here, although it's not against the athletes themselves (especially those in athletics). Also nothing against their shooters, as far as I remember they're usually Bahrain-born and raised instead of bought athletes
  2. This is a joke, right? France for sure has so many awesome athletes who'd be great examples to carry the flag....
  3. Commentator of Canada - Venezuela (English/American) genuinely believes the penalties in the shootout count towards the number of goals statistics As in: "Two goals away from the Canadian all-time top goalscorer record" *proceeds to hit his penalty* "...now just one away."
  4. I kind of assumed so, thanks though I've caught up on the highlights now, let's go with all of the semis
  5. Could anyone tell me in which order the matches in San Juan were played (and which is group A and B)? Somehow when making my own schedule I totally overlooked the 4th OQT, but now I can't see the schedule without seeing the scores and I want to still watch the highlights
  6. Hard to make a list off the top of my head, but Noah Lyles and Sha'Carri Richardson are definitely both on it. I'll have to do some more reading on one of my favourite categories of athletes: those who tried many times, but always came up just short, ran into injuries, that sort of thing. I basically cheer for anyone in that category by default, no matter the sport. Not without reason that Noriaki Kasai's silver in Sochi and Gerard van Velde's gold in Salt Lake might be my favourite medals ever
  7. I wouldn't call it hate, but that Brazilian skateboarding girl who every single time reacts as if she just can't believe it at the moment she gets her medal (and it's long clear she won). I can not stand her reactions, it's one of the reasons I don't think I'll be watching that event (but I definitely don't wish a bad result upon her or anything) Actual hate...no, I don't feel that towards any athlete I think now that Mekhissi isn't competing (and Richard Kilty, I think). Definitely won't be cheering for certain athletes, like I would be far from sad if Novak Djokovic is out early. No hate, just very much not a fan and would probably prefer every single other player as winner In terms of Dutch athletes I'm sure I'll start having some negative feelings in the women's road race at some point, but also no hate towards anyone in the entire team across all sports.
  8. Conceição gets brushed slightly in his face and lays down as if he'll need to go to the intensive care unit.
  9. Finally Portugal let someone else take a free kick instead of Cristiano Ronaldo, who one can definitely say is just awful at it in these moments (a magnificent 1 (one) free kick made out of 60 attempts on big tournaments).
  10. Question 1: will Leão get his 3rd yellow card for pretending to be tackled? It would be kind of fun to see the kings of theater, Spain and Portugal, face off in the semi's
  11. If Taylor didn't give a penalty to Germany in this match, I very firmly believe it was not a penalty. If there was any doubt, he'd have given it for sure
  12. The saying here is that Germans are not defeated until they're out of the showers and in the bus home :P
  13. Why would he not be able to open a bank account?
  14. Germany is playing disgustingly. They're lucky Taylor is being very soft so far.
  15. People in the big cities here are not exaggerating or wrong when they say they are slightly worried about Saturday night, and this is the reason for that Genuinely happy with living in a relatively small town, plenty of bigger places are simply not at all going to be nice Saturday.
  16. Meanwhile, Turkey will have to play without Demiral against the Netherlands and, if they win, in the semi's. He has been suspended due to some ultranationalist and terrorist-related gesture in their match against Austria. I guess he didn't want to play anymore this tournament, because obviously he knew this would result in trouble
  17. Oh boy, either the Netherlands or Turkey is going to have to play the semi-final with three goalkeepers on the field given Turpin's love for pulling cards out of his pocket left and right
  18. If I didn't have a job, I'd at least try to watch a few hours of that, but sorry, that's just not going to work
  19. Sports/events I'll probably just skip entirely: rhythmic gymnastics, artistic swimming, dressage, BMX freestyle, skateboarding, surfing. Of several other sports/events, like breakdancing, basically all of the indoor shooting and the modern pentathlon, I'll probably end up just quickly tuning in when the medals are decided, but I can't really be bothered to sit through the early stages of them.
  20. Same as at least all the other people here who managed to get their vacation in that time: all day My plan is more or less to wake up no later than 7 every day, have breakfast and get my schedules ready and everything and watch sports until roughly 23:00 or so when I will probably be thirsting for my bed
  21. Whether or not he is, is of course very much debatable (separate from his often used 'tactics' of over the line elbowing, headbutting and other kinds of things where he very often escaped punishment). One of the best, definitely.
