  1. Goes pretty well with the new Dutch prime minister (since this week), Dick Schoof Seems to be a rather penile week of politics.
  2. What's up with these 'I cheer against a certain flag' things some people often seem to have? I mean, where did the heart for sports go: cheering for (or against) certain athletes because you like (or dislike) the athlete, no matter where they're from? There's no doubt athletes who I find to be assholes, from my country and others, and athletes who I find to be awesome people, from my country and others, does the little flag really matter that much? Someone who one would consider an amazing athlete and great person can't be cheered for, because the flag is wrong? Come on Oddly, I can understand cheering for certain countries (due to family ties, nice memories, potential historical results, etc) more than cheering against certain countries Edit: to clarify, this was not specifically directed at anyone in particular, I notice the same thing on every kind of sports forum, both here and the Dutch ones
  3. I saw I was tagged here as well, but no idea what to do where and I'm trying to be careful not to be dragged into the user X vs user Y Wikipedia battle of which even after all the posts here I have absolutely no clue who is who, what is what and what I should be in favor of or even what on earth is going on that's apparently such a big deal Besides having no idea who is selected and who isn't, sailing is a sport of which there's a good chance I'll end up seeing almost nothing during the Olympics
  4. God, how I hate these federations refusing athletes who did indeed qualify one way or another.
  5. You're just frustrated Algeria is outside the top-50 (53rd)
  6. Nice! I've only ever been there when the train to Schiphol passes through Diemen-Zuid
  7. Which town do you call home nowadays?
  8. Right, penalties. Let's go Summer.
  9. Netherlands scored against, I believe, Yugoslavia at a moment my dad went to the bathroom in 2000. Ever since we tell him to go to the bathroom when it's not going well. Worked against Poland this year That's it for my anecdote, have a lovely evening!
  10. That was a super clear yellow for theater for Xhaka.
  11. Fuck....during the descent of the very tough Grossglockner..
  12. Ah, didn't know that one, you really can learn something every day it seems
  13. No, it won't. Also, not sure semi death wishes are acceptable here (despite that having been accepted on the forum before). I do agree with him being allowed to participate by the way, but definitely won't be cheering for him. And just to be clear: that very obviously does not equal accepting what he did as remotely OK.
  14. I do dislike her lack of visibility overall in the sport. As in, barely ever competing. It's entirely within her rights, obviously, but it's a shame that someone of that level is so invisible in between major championships.
  15. Damn, all* I wanted for wrestling Christmas was Sadulaev vs Snyder if that's still the top matchup there *well and of course the big Cuban, as you know, but yeah
  16. Kind of agree with this, yeah. Which I also find a shame, because Biles is obviously an amazing athlete to watch, so I won't be rooting against her personally or anything, it's just the insane hype around her that I can't stand...as if the Olympics as a whole would be non-existent without her participation.
  17. Lonah Salpeter, how could I forget her As always I'm hoping she'll get a well-deserved medal, especially after the Tokyo drama.
  18. Judging by what you wrote, none of the entire situation is exactly 'great', but of the possible outcomes of this week, this one is at least the better one and maybe even a tiny bit hopeful, then? (I hope, at least!)
