  1. I'd only be in favour of this if it doesn't cost anyone (especially a South Korean) a place at the Olympics.
  2. Plus, how are you gonna get used to completely new players in basically a matter of days? And the thought of a mixed bobsled team is even worse! South Korea especially in the men's bobsled has made some serious steps and those athletes deserve to be there and potentially even fight for medals, it'd be rather unfair to all of a sudden take a South Korean out and put a North Korean in behind a driver he/she has never worked with before.
  3. 18-year old Alex de Minaur reached the final in Sydney. What better place for your first ATP final than the city you were born in? Dude's on a roll btw, semi's in Brisbane last week, final now. If he wins, he'll be right at the door of the top-100 (101st most likely).
  4. By the way, Bos would be 10th in the ranking if our NOC decides not to count the insanely unfair race in Winterberg. One would think that'd be a strange thing to do, but they did exactly the same in alpine skiing in the Sochi qualification: Marvin van Heek got an 8th place in the insanely unfair downhill in Val Gardena, exactly what a Dutch alpine skier needs to qualify, but the NOC decided not to count it because of the weather conditions. Basically, they scrapped a result which was made unfair by the weather when said weather turned out positive for an athlete, in my opinion they should do the same now that the same kind of thing turned out negative for an athlete.
  5. Starting with a win, follow it up with a 22nd place....later on get a 20th place and follow it up with a win. Who cares about consistency
  6. Yarnold easily within top-13, Fernstädt gets a minimum of 5th place. RIP Bos.
  7. Top-12 in the standings is the requirement. She's 11th now, Yarnold, Uhlaender and Fernstädt will pass her with a 13th, 8th and 5th place respectively. One of them can pass her (two if our NOC decides not to count Nikitina). Frustrating is that she'd have passed the not present Priedulena with an 'easy' 18th place...but she'll finish 20th.
  8. That was not good at all for Bos...that might have cost her an Olympic ticket
  9. At least I noticed quite some interest in by far my favourite part of Italy (you know, German-speaking Südtirol)
  10. World Cup in beautiful St Moritz has started
  11. Remembering that is an impressive bit of memory
  12. Well it's pretty big in sports news, mostly the speed skating of course (and biathlon finally got a mention yesterday, because Bjoerndalen is in trouble and biathlon = Bjoerndalen and nothing else, if our media is to be believed). Among the population it's not like everyone is brimming with excitement or something, although on the main Dutch forum it's slowly starting to get a bit more busy in the sports threads with people other than those who normally watch them and post there anyway
  13. September people 12th here
  14. First days are gonna be tough, my days will mostly consist of waking up around 02:00 and going to bed around 18:00...this will need some adjustment I think
  15. Alright, I take my words back about how utterly ridiculous it is to give her a free quota At least she's competitive already
  16. As expected, but sad The more medal contenders, the better.
  17. Zina Kocher in the Östersund individual in 2006/07 with a third place, which in turn was the first Canadian podium since Bedard ten years before that https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006–07_Biathlon_World_Cup
  18. I doubt she'll win this, but man, Crawford on the podium would be awesome
  19. It is if you come up short in Pyeongchang because you've been trying to keep top shape for nearly one full month
  20. Because unlike the others, she does know how to not peak too early in the season?
  21. Fixed that for you
  22. British Cycling chief executive talking about the case of Chris Froome. Basically, the problem (in her opinion) is that it's become public knowledge, while apparently she thinks Sky should have months and months to try out and test every possible explanation until they come up with the perfect excuse, and all that behind the scenes in secret. Just a disgusting read, really. She even has the courage to talk about what's bad for the sport, without realizing she and her federation are exactly what is so wrong with the sport. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2018/jan/10/leak-chris-froome-failed-drugs-test-british-cycling-julie-harrington
  23. But then again, a medal is a medal, even if there's only three with a final result
  24. I would say lower than future level in tennis. There were seven other competitors, one from Iran, one from Kosovo and five from Turkey. Two of them didn't finish the first run, three didn't finish the second run, so only three athletes actually had a result. That's including Thakur, who was a massive 21 seconds behind the winner (which is rather much in a sport where 3 seconds is considered an eternity)..
  25. Olympic gold, here we come.
