  1. This should be it's own thread . I know we allready have a WC medals count thread, but this could be interesting as well. A virtual yearly medals table based on either world championship results or world rankings/best performances (if no world championsip that year)
  2. That's a very short term view then. The Olympics have become the Olympics because they became a forum for the best of the best to compete each others. That's the message of the olympics. The competitive nature of the games is what drives people every four (two) years. Each time, the IOC is adding more made up events whith basically no competitive fields or pending to its 'gender equity' policy, sacrificing much more competitive events in the process, they blur their inital message and alienate their inital fanbase. The YOG are the crux of this philosophy. A bunch of random events played by random people, just making sure every one gets something. A festival of sports of some sort. Not something I'm interested in tbh.
  3. Here is a interesting interview (yes really) from Lappartient https://www.letemps.ch/sport/david-lappartient-aujourdhui-un-cycliste-gagner-un-grand-tour-carburant-leau A couple of key points: Believe that the peloton is much more cleaner today that it was 20 years ago Calls Froome "innoncent" (heum...), and says that WADA left UCI with no choice ASO knew that Froome was going to be cleared when they made their statement a few days before the Grand Départ (so, yeah, pure PR move by them) UCI spent 10 M€ on anti doping every year, that's 25% of UCI budget. According to him, some IF spent as little as 50 K€ a year. Very aware of the boring nature of modern day cycling (specifically modern day sky cycling): Six riders teams, ban of power meters and headsets, salary cap are all considered at that point (*do it, David, do it now !)
  4. Regarding the IOC policy and its olympic program, I can only encourage people to read this piece from insidethegames https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1068066/liam-morgan-beijing-2022-will-not-be-any-more-exciting-with-addition-of-more-mixed-team-events This two beauties sum it up quite nicely to me
  5. French selection (86 members), that's 14 more than in Amsterdam. https://stadion-actu.fr/championnats-deurope-de-berlin-la-selection-francaise/ Lemaitre and Diniz are the two most notables missing names (both injured)
  6. If i was to put the blame to someone, that would be the guys who light up the flares . Riders really need all the visibility they can get.
  7. Nibali's fall (not due to motorbikes as it was reported earlier) That's right before the first bareer...
  8. During today's press conference it has been said that the number of quotas needed for the additional sports will be counted towards the overal 10,500 athletes set by IOC Charter (contrary to what happen for Tokyo) Il means that the number of additional sports will be low (very likely lower than five) and that they won't request a large number of quotas (any team sport is basically screwed at that point) Edit: Paris will make its proposals by the first semester of 2019.
  9. Besides, how many opportunities the same set of people should have to rack up medals doing basically the exact same thing. ?
  10. Any event will see participation grow if they were included in the olympics. Doesn't make it right
  11. I had a look at FIS website. The womens skiing big air thing had on average a whooping 7 girls competiting during this year's world cup...
  12. Regarding the penalty : Bonus from yesterday night:
  13. Actually, we don't. But I'm sur we'd love the exlpnation .
  14. All right, I didn't post it earlier but that front page from l'Equipe was brillant (that was before the semi final, thus th Tintin theme) The gremin on the left being The french FA boss (again) with Giroud and Deschamps (and his pet, don't ask)
  15. I thought so too. I feel very depressed to have made less of an impact on heywoodu that benetolympique did. Edit; I guess to tell people to fuck off is not enough, i need to get also full retard also.
  16. I'm the french user who tell people to fuck off, that should be easy enough to rember.
  17. People in french guyana are moaning, defintly.
  18. From the same guy who feel obliged to correct someone when he mentions something to be "from Québec", and to claims it for glorious Canada.
  19. Fuck off with that tedious shit. We allready have the most pathetic idiotic troll on the internetz claiming a world cup for Algeria each time Mbappé enter the stadium. I'm sure that as an Argentinean, you'll find it very funny if each time Argentina was achieving anything, you'll be told that there is no such thing as argentineans but Italians, spanish and whatnots. Very funny indeed. Very original also.
  20. I had to look at hckosice results post and see Groenewegen name to remember myself that I did wach the stage today.
