  1. 43,500 spectators during the tournament. A fantastic success according to everybody, And yet, it seems WTT wants to move it to Paris
  2. Yes, and yes. It is really that simple. Edit: just to add something, forums generally might be more male oriented than female in comparison with social medias due to anonymity. And also speaking of my demographics, due to earlier internet adoption and exposition to the web of the early 00's male users might be more familiar with forums than social medias. But even if it is. It's marginal. I used to run a twitter account that went deep in some sports-related subjects (history, datas, economics). 99% of my interactions were with males.
  3. From a foreign point of view, it does feel a bit weird there is no italian WT team tbh... I remembrer when Lampre was gone reading some apocalyptic stuff about the certain death of italian cycling. If anything that didn't happen.
  4. Good old self-confidence: 87,192
  5. 81,885 spectators for the final. Obv, a record for women's rugby, but I wonder if it could be a record for women sport ?
  6. For real ? That seems a bit low (even assuming it's only since 1992)
  7. Please go to Catalonia shouting in the streets "Vamos Barca"
  8. Allegedly. And court said there was not enough evidence to pursue.
  9. Also David Elena, historc Loeb's copilot and multuple rally world champion.
  10. Oh Spain out of the podium ! You have to go back to ... 1950 (and a new exploit for our team that have drove absolutely zero media interest)
  11. If the organiers/Boxing World did garantee that the lab they recommended would provide results before the deadline and failed to do, the blame lies entirely on the organiers/Boxing World.
  12. There are no right answer tbh and both arguments are valids. But realy, women's rugby is one of the least competetive sport at international level (even for the quarter finals, a couple of blowouts are guaranteed) For people who are not aware, we went from 12 to 16 teams this world cup.
  13. Some nice shared celebrations between and after that trashing Doest it make expanding the women world cup worthwhile, I don't know
  14. Not the finest exemple of domestic développement though.
  15. You can drop the 'practically' Not a single Worlds participation since 1974 (ranked 20th) while the men's team was always decent at international level with some peaks here and there (the 80's, the world medal back in 2002). Women's volleyball was for a very long time a afterthought at the federation and was not helped either by the so-called pro clubs who were running on almost 100% foreigners squads.
  16. Worth remenber it was a demonstration event back in 1992 and was not seen ever since. Most likely because one athlete died during training. I can see IOC vetto it.
  17. Is it new that additional sports/events can be added by already established olympic IFs ? It was my understanding that only non-olympic IFs could apply as additional sports ?
  18. So not in 30 years, but over 100 And it's not like cutting sports is a new discussion either. Critics of the 'gigantism' of the Olympics trying to cut stuff left and right of the program have always been there. It basically never actually happen.
  19. If we learned anything from the 30 last years or so it is that is very difficult for IOC to actually cut anything from the program. Modern Pentathlon, Wrestling, Canoe slalom, Boxing, were all in the execution waiting room at some point but managed to survive. It seems the internal olympics dynamics basically prevent for a sport to ever be excluded. Besides, the tensions around the winter program are a lot less heavy. IMO, Nordic Combined will survive.
  20. Not a relative, but a part of it
  21. If we don't found a few billionaires to fund it (unlickely I know) how great would it be if IOC decided to fund the World Games and expand to a lot of the sports we 've been talking ?!
  22. A big fat yes from me for Tamburello
  23. Also, a kick ass song tha will rock the world, just like the 1989 World Games
  24. Food for thoughts, list of former World Games sports/disciplines : Aikido Air Sports (Skydiving, Paragliding, Aerobatics, Paramotoring) Boomerang Bowls (Raffa) Bowling Casting Cycling (Artsitic, Cycle Ball ) Dancesport (Rock 'n Roll, Salsa) Vaulting Bodybuilding Gateball Field indoor Hockey Beach lifesaving Military pentathlon Minigolf Motorcycling (Motocross, Speedway, Trial) Netball Pesäpallo Roller sports (Artistic, Rink Hockey) Indoor Rowing Sumo Tchoukball Indoor Tug of War Waterski (Waterski, Barefoot) Wheelchair rugby
  25. I was looking for former World Games Sports the other day, and noticed that Cycle-Ball was indeed part of the program
