  1. Great to see my Aussie brethren laying it all on in the pool. As usual the biggest threats to the American dominance. AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE OI OI OI =)
  2. Comprising the sport of rowing for lovely scenery to take lovely photos. A bit of a joke really.
  3. Thanks to Kim qualifying only 3rd, it's going to stack up a quarter final race that's for sure.
  4. What the heck happened to Kim Brennan? Did she hit a crab or something?
  5. I think your Lightweight Women's Double Scull are more likely to medal than your eight. I don't know what's happened to the CAN W8 but they were a long way behind the US, GBR and NZ W8 this world cup season. They also got beaten by the Dutch 8 this season without the 3 crews mentioned in this race. They're obviously capable of medaling, the Olys particularly rowing throw up all sorts of upsets. But going on current form I wouldn't be surprised. But I think your best bet or even banker is the LW2x. Just went through it again, don't think Alan Campbell would medal in the single, I'd swap him for Damir Martin (CRO) to be on the podium.
  6. Out of all the predictions. I think the rowing is spot on. At least on those that should finish in the medals, give or take the positions. But in saying that Genevra Stone (USA) would be lucky to get a medal let alone silver in the Single Scull. Kim Brennan and Emma Twigg will probably fight for Gold and the rest will fight for Bronze. The only reason the US are predicted by them to win 137 medals is Russia's ban in a lot of events and to pander to their readers. You get that everywhere.
  7. I just feel sorry for all those Russians that are innocent from all of this. Unfortunately they will all be tainted with being on drugs, just by reading what's on twitter alone will justify what I've said. It's sad, and there's no winners from this.
  8. The problem is is that the Russian case is state/systematic doping a lot like the East Germans back in the 70's/80's. In other words the government knows about it, are sponsoring it and coveting it up. Whereas those in the Western World who are caught are doping privately for themselves. Hence why you don't get as many positive druggies.
  9. Valerie Adams throws seasons best and 2nd best throw this year of 20.19m at meet in Budapest finishing 1st. The field included two main rivals Schwanitz and Carter. Gong who has thrown the farthest of 20.43m wasn't there again. But the upwards trend of Adams bodes well fingers crossed.
  10. Apparently they've accepted the quota. I can't believe why the NZOC accepted it, very hypocritical. Yet they've declined two sailors, a swimmer and a fencer. Epic fail, and he won't last long. In saying that, pretty disappointed in the Australian wrestler for failing a drugs test. Just shows that cheats don't prosper.
  11. Thank god for that. Massive Ratchanok fan.
  12. NZ won't accept the quota. He would've been named by now. So calm your tits everyone.
  13. At least the womens field will be strong with practically all the big names playing. At the very least Stenson will represent Sweden the newly crowned British Open champ, that's good news.
  14. Ko wins after 4 playoff holes. What a relief. Her last round jitters are worrying though. Let 2 majors slip this year she could've ended up with 3.
  15. World No. 1 Lydia Ko in yet another playoff at the Marathon Classic in the LPGA tour against Lee of Korea and Jutarnugarn of Thailand.
  16. NZ has a confirmed team off 199 athletes up 15 from 184 in London. Australia has 410.
  17. New Zealand Olympic Committee has a medal target of 14 or more medals. I think this is a good safe target, it's best not to get ahead of ourselves because sport can be unpredictable. Theoritically the team is very strong across the board but it's best to curb those expectations a bit, because we've experienced disappointment before.
