  1. Aziz coming soon on the ring...
  2. and now also Salvatore Cavallaro did it! Semis & Olympic Quota for him in the -80kg class!
  3. very, very disappointing match by Malanga in the men's -63.5kg class. he lost badly (and deserved the loss) vs Clancy and missed his main chance to get an Olympic Quota place. unfortunately, I don't see him doing the job in the worldwide tournaments on the other hand, excellent performance by Federico Serra in the men's -51kg class. however, he's still 1 win away from the Olympic dream. I hope this time he won't be robbed of the success he fully deserves
  4. brava Chiara!
  5. Bronze Medal & Olympic Quota for Chiara Rebagliati in women's Archery
  6. yeah, I only gave a look at the finals
  7. it's as simple as it looks: all quota places decided in the EGs are delayed to the next best ranked shooter competition by competition (therefore got 2 quota places in the mixed team event -1 W, 1 M- and so in the individual event their athletes are not counted, which means vs is a match for bronze and also for the Olympic quota). should (or any other nation winning a quota place or 2 at the EGs) qualify the full team in one of the next events, the quota places won in this week's event will be reallocated at the final individual OQT.
  8. in Italy, this year's EGs, except for diving and athletics (which have been shown fully live by our public tv), the remaining sports have absolutely 0 relevance and / or attention. no tv at all (they didn't even bothered to buy the rights). last year's ECHs, it was just another story...full tv coverage and unusually high attention by the media (especially for athletics -they drew more interest of the world champs in Eugene- and swimming -despite being apart from the actual ECHs, but they were held in Rome, you know...).
  9. more on that... women's 100m Free 2. Abbey Weitzeil 53.11 3. Gretchen Walsh 53.14 4. Olivia Smoliga 53.28 compared to Australia, top 4 swimming 3.32.10 vs top 4 swimming 3.30.73 (simple addition of the individual times, no "fly start compensation") men's 100m Free 1. Jack Alexy 47.93 2. Chris Guiliano 47.98 3. Matt King 47.99 4. Destin Lasco 48.00 compared to Australia, top 4 swimming 3.11.90 vs top 4 swimming 3.12.31 (simple addition of the individual times, no "fly start compensation")
  10. because you've never watched Fencing (especially Sabre) in the 80', before the electrical target area and the video replay system were used. then, the screams were actually a tactic, in order to gain some influence on the refs' calls by showing yourself sure to have hit your opponent. at that time, sabre was really a theatrical performance, way more than nowadays.
  11. unless there's risk of lightning, rain is not a factor by itself. they can shoot without any problem (sure, it makes little sense in technical terms and there will be likely poor scores, but this is not an impeding to hold the finals right now).
  12. haven't watched that bout, but here it looks that Gemini has been gifted the victory. on the other hand, I watched Irma Testa's bout vs Glynn and someone must really take a minute and explain to me how the hell 2 judges scored the match in favor of the British girl? luckily, the other 3 men with the papillon weren't watching the last episode of a new sci-fi series and made Boxing justice
  13. no idea, nothing was reported by the Italian media which are following the event.
  14. p.s. Siklosi is already out!
  15. I'm watching Heinzer vs Koch on the Piste no.1 at the moment (and I see the women's sabre preliminary pools on the background)
  16. no, the direct elimination of the men's epee is regularly underway right now
  17. I wouldn't underestimate swimming... you can't win a Triathlon race with a good swimming stint, but you can certainly lose a Triathlon race with a bad swimming leg
  18. these EGs spots will be reallocated to the final individual qualification tournament
  19. Alice Sotero winning yesterday the Fencing RR and today the Swimming event. she should be safe in the final and hopefully also in a very good position for the final and the quota place (provided she doesn't fall down the horse)
  20. Lenzi is young (in terms of boxing) and totally inexperienced. I'd be very surprised if he wins vs Hernandez. and this is a real preview, not the preventive whining I like to play quite often
  21. my recipe? stay loyal to the good, old "altius, citius, fortior" philosophy. things would be a lot better.
  22. not yet, at least how they use it right now. bad quality pictures and having the drones flying too high* to make people recognizable at first sight are still big issues. *I understand that if they let the drones to close to the athletes, it might cause troubles (or at least disturb).
  23. I agree with you, but IOC has already recognized the Card Games as Sports, even if we don't like it. same for E-Sports.
  24. the WSL has extended highlights for free on their App. you can try that...it's not that bad. watching a full heat live instead can be really boring. like @Monzanator wrote, sometimes you can go to the toilet or cook a meal while nothing happens in the meantime.
