  1. As a Juventus fan this stings quite a bit. Though, if it had to happen, there is no better season to do it, then this one, where Napoli are the odds on favourites for the title and we are having a mediocre squad as well. Maybe now they will be more concentrated in winning the Europa League. I have a feeling, that this is Andrea Agnellis' punishment for his insistence on creating the Superleague. Surely all big clubs are doing some kind of financial shenanigans and payments under the table, but Juventus are being made an example of, because of Agnellis' desire for the Superleague.
  2. AO still going on, it's 5 in the morning Leave it to Murray to have back to back marathons and deprive people from their sleep.
  3. Virtually no surprises in both the men's and women's sides in the first day. Can't remember the last Slam, where no high profile name didn't lose in a full days play. Old and grizzled retiree Wawrinka doesn't fit the bill with his last few (injured) years.
  4. Opening race of the new season in Formula E and i must applaud them for finally making the cars more presentable and remove those tire fenders. They look a bit bare in the back, but nonetheless the best version so far.
  5. When they say an "early start to your sporting career", they probably didn't mean this exactly, but today i found an interesting story. In December, in the top Bulgarian women's football division, a club made a substitute and entered a 10 year old girl. She had been training mostly with boys, a few years older than her, and had played in women's U15 and U17 matches throughout the year. And the main teams coach has said, that she wanted to award the girl for her dedication and progress with a few minutes play against the women.
  6. I don't watch handball, didn't know all the drama was in this topic
  7. Can someone remind me, who is the host of the live streams between runs? I know she is a former luger, but i can't put her name.
  8. I almost would have missed this event, if i wasn't scrolling through the forum. Since when is this name change? Did the word "Universiade" sound too Russian for them..
  9. Vittozzi winning an Individual with a clear shooting Wierer skiing faster than the Oeberg sisters and Olsbu? It's a new day
  10. Which, if they are not specifically speaking about women's GS is factually not true. Amazing how paid journalist often don't do their research. Marie-Michele Gagnon - Soldea - AC win in 2016 Marie-Michele Gagnon - Zauchensee - AC win in 2014 Erin Mielzynski - Ofterschwang - SL win in 2012 Emily Brydon - St. Moritz - SG win in 2008 Britt Janyk - Aspen - DH win in 2007 Genevieve Simard - Cortina - SG win 2004 And the shocking DH World Championship gold medal for Melanie Turgeon in 2003 in St. Moritz.
  11. The history books shows us, that the last women's GS WC win comes from Kathy Kreiner in January 6th 1974 in Pfronter. And she also won the GS at the 1976 Olympic Games in Innsbruck (which also counts as a World Championship gold)
  12. WOW a win for Canada Superb two runs from Grenier. And Kranska Gora finally stops Mikaela
  13. Applauses for everyone at Adelboden, that even with spring weather, they managed to organize the races and have 30 k fans.
  14. I would lie, if i say, i'm surprised about this. No one cared about women's ski-jumping around New Years, before Ljubno showed these past 2 years, that there is some interest there. They had by far the most fans for a women's event. But of course, why make their own, unique W 4 Hills and build a tradition, when you can just copy-paste from the men and have it as a "preliminary boxing card" before the Main event.
  15. No surprises in the cancelations with this pathetic weather all around Europe.. Sadly it has become a regular occurrence, where i live, in the last few years, that there wouldn't be any snow, but seeing all of Europe, bar Scandinavia, without snow is highly depressing.
  16. A new hybrid sport, that i came across recently is Chessboxing. Now this is something i can get invested in with a proper development. The two sports are so different, that combining them feels so interesting. You can check this fresh example from this week, though it is not the best one from a pure sporting merit i reckon. But these two are pretty famous youtube chess players and this is how a stumbled on this.
  17. Athletics standards have become absurd at this point. People here have seriously joked, that these marks are the sane ones which would bring medals in Paris for most of the events.
  18. I've said it before, but FIS are missing a huge opportunity with the night events. Every season, when i watch these, i see a more special race, which feels like money. Don't know why they don't invest and expand to have a few more of these races throughout the season. And it's not only alpine, they could do it for snowboarding, freestyle and have these primetime starts. Another very good run for Albert Popov. He is on the verge of making regular top 10 results now. Also, i though mister Olympic champion Giuliano Razzoli had retired. Fancy seeing him again. Him and Stefano Gross are two people, i have the feeling, i have watched all my life. Great run for the Brits as well, with 3 of them making the top 30! Has this happened before?
  19. France conveniently forgetting how to play football, in addition to Infantinos agenda, is a fitting end to the worst World Cup i have watched.
  20. Yes, Livakovic was standing still and Alvarez rammed him American football style...
  21. Another gifted penalty for Argentina, how many have they been here, around 75...
  22. All i want for Christmas is a Cro final tonight. (insert Mariah Carey scream)
  23. It wouldn't be a weightlifting event, if there isn't a Bulgarian meltdown in there.
