  1. Indonesia has got a medal in gymnastics! Almost unbelievable!!
  2. Ouch. The Olympic champion crashed his first vault. Now it's anyone's game. This could be a special day to Indonesia and Philippines if they earn their first medal ever in gymnastics.
  3. Indonesia has a real chance to win a medal in gymnastics, what would be a huge, huge achievement.
  4. I thought you were making fun of how a Japanese person would say this phrase (whole continent). I giggled.
  5. Oksana Chusovitina won a silver medal on vault. She's 43 and she also won medals at the 1994 edition of the Asian Games. The second oldest competitor after Chusovitina was Aruna Reddy, from India, born in 1995.
  6. Best routine he has done in his life, for sure.
  7. Aaaaaand he will get gold! AMAZING! A first for Chinese Taipei in gymnastics!
  8. That guy from Taiwan on pommel horse is perfect. I hope he becomes world champion with the Irish gymnast in second place.
  9. I hate it when vandals attack Wikipedia. Apparently, the "funny guy" who edited the page is from Indonesia, according to a quick check on his IP address.
  10. It's funny how China is in third with one routine to go. They are THAT good.
  11. Yessss! North Korea beat Japan by a tiny, tiny margin!
  12. I can't believe North Korea will probably lose the silver medal on women's artistic gymnastics. Japan was solid but the North Korean girls were fantastic.
  13. I decided to watch the YEM-TKM wrestling match after all the fuss around here. I know nothing about wrestling but I wish it was like Judo, when the match is over once you throw the opponent on their back. It was sad to watch the guy getting thrown then being rolled over like a dumpling in hot oil.
  14. I'm really surprised with the level of the women's artistic gymnastics competition. All of the teams are so nice to watch and the girls are working so hard. I never expected Chinese Taipei and Indonesia to have full fledged teams with such nice gymnasts. Japan is my biggest disappointment so far. You can see the girls are well trained and their technique is on point, but there's something lacking. I don't quite enjoy watching them.
  15. They are. It took several months for me to find the complete results of the senior Pan American Championships in artistic gymnastics and post them on Wikipedia. I asked UPAG for help and they only replied thanking me for finding the results, but apparently they didn't even know when the championships were staged or how many were staged.
  16. Today (August 21) the International Gymnastics Federation announced that Costa Rica officially qualified in women's artistic gymnastics. I figured this out two months ago. This federation is a joke.
  17. What are you guys talking about? China scored the highest team score this year, even better than Russia at the European Championships! Japan had a shameful day, for sure. Finishing fourth in qualifications is a disaster, even if this is the B-team.
  18. Gymnasts from Indonesia and the Philippines have achieved top 3 positions in qualifications. It will be amazing if they manage to get a medal!
  19. If you mean releases, they are. The thing is the gymnast must perform releases as high as possible, and the more complex, the more they earn points, of course. A lot of gymnasts prefer to perform "safer" skills with different grips of their hands instead of losing points in execution in a release move, though.
  20. FINALLY a good draw for Brazilian women. Team Brasil Men's team: Arthur Zanetti, Francisco Barreto, Lucas Bittencourt, Arthur Nory, Caio Souza Women's team: Rebeca Andrade, Flávia Saraiva, Thais Santos, Jade Barbosa, Lorrane Oliveira
  21. Çolak has a REAL chance to beat Petrounias at the World Championships. Even with slight mistakes here and there, he got a huge score. Nice for Turkey to finally earn a medal at the Europeans again, after 10 years.
  22. I didn't watch the routine, but one possible explanation is him losing one compositional requirement (there are four, and each worth 0.5 in each routine), and this element could be linked to another one (0.1 bonus for connection value of a select group of elements). Or maybe he missed the dismount, which would lower his score in 0.4-0.6 depending on what he did wrong.
  23. Ude's difficulty score was 5.5, Whitlock's was 6.3. If Ude had low difficulty in his routine, there's no way his execution score alone could put him on the podium. Whilock's difficulty score was 0.8 higher than Ude's, and a fall is worth 1.0 less, so things are not so absurd.
  24. This could be a problem, but his execution score was so high I think he was not affected at all by the change.
