  1. Not really related to this event, but the IOC itself is contradictory when it comes to following its own principles. They removed one event in women's rhythmic gymnastics at the 2018 Youth Olympics, so we'll have 8 events in gymnastics for men and for 7 women (plus 2 mixed gender events).
  2. I'm hopeful that at least in athletics, swimming and gymnastics we'll be able to watch all of the events. Other than that, judo, volleyball, handball, table tennis, skateboarding, canoeing, archery, weightlifting, modern pentathlon and equestrian are the sports I want to watch, but I'm not sure all of the events will be streamed, especially in table tennis and modern pentathlon.
  3. It's mind boggling that the event finals in boys' trampoline and group rhythmic gymnastics have never been made available online.
  4. Awesome job. I'm surprised to see Iran, a nation I've always believed to be a one-trick pony (only winning major medals in combat sports) resting in a solid fifth place. It's always nice when a nation improves considerably in other sports (I assume they've improved... If all of their medals are still from combat sports, I take my words back). Chinese Taipei is a HUGE surprise for me. They won their first ever gold medal in gymnastics on the pommel horse (their gymnast can even be world champion) and then another one on the high bar. Their athletes seem to be well trained and they give other huge nations with dozens of millions of people a run for their money. And I presume Bahrain is the Azerbaijan of the Asian Games, right? No one really cares about it, lots of athletes born on other nations and questionable choices galore.
  5. Yes. The old thread was about medals in any sport. I remember Angola earned a medal in Jiu Jitsu or something. Edit: Yes, I was right, and a world title nonetheless. It was in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, though. Source: Wikipedia.
  6. Among the nations which have won medals, India, Pakistan, Indonesia and Nigeria are the most disappointing given the number of people compared to the number of medals achieved. Brazil has improved over the last few years, but I'm aware we're probably disappointing too.
  7. According to Wikipedia, Bolivia won the women's doubles title at the 2018 Racquetball World Championships. This is probably Bolivia's first ever gold medal in any sport at the world championships.
  8. I for one want more athletes stripping their clothes off during celebrations.
  9. Another medal for Indonesia in gymnastics. This is an awesome day for them.
  10. Indonesia has got a medal in gymnastics! Almost unbelievable!!
  11. They are probably just too nervous.
  12. Ouch. The Olympic champion crashed his first vault. Now it's anyone's game. This could be a special day to Indonesia and Philippines if they earn their first medal ever in gymnastics.
  13. Indonesia has a real chance to win a medal in gymnastics, what would be a huge, huge achievement.
  14. I thought you were making fun of how a Japanese person would say this phrase (whole continent). I giggled.
  15. Oksana Chusovitina won a silver medal on vault. She's 43 and she also won medals at the 1994 edition of the Asian Games. The second oldest competitor after Chusovitina was Aruna Reddy, from India, born in 1995.
  16. Best routine he has done in his life, for sure.
  17. Aaaaaand he will get gold! AMAZING! A first for Chinese Taipei in gymnastics!
  18. That guy from Taiwan on pommel horse is perfect. I hope he becomes world champion with the Irish gymnast in second place.
  19. I hate it when vandals attack Wikipedia. Apparently, the "funny guy" who edited the page is from Indonesia, according to a quick check on his IP address.
  20. It's funny how China is in third with one routine to go. They are THAT good.
  21. Yessss! North Korea beat Japan by a tiny, tiny margin!
  22. I can't believe North Korea will probably lose the silver medal on women's artistic gymnastics. Japan was solid but the North Korean girls were fantastic.
  23. I decided to watch the YEM-TKM wrestling match after all the fuss around here. I know nothing about wrestling but I wish it was like Judo, when the match is over once you throw the opponent on their back. It was sad to watch the guy getting thrown then being rolled over like a dumpling in hot oil.
  24. I'm really surprised with the level of the women's artistic gymnastics competition. All of the teams are so nice to watch and the girls are working so hard. I never expected Chinese Taipei and Indonesia to have full fledged teams with such nice gymnasts. Japan is my biggest disappointment so far. You can see the girls are well trained and their technique is on point, but there's something lacking. I don't quite enjoy watching them.
  25. They are. It took several months for me to find the complete results of the senior Pan American Championships in artistic gymnastics and post them on Wikipedia. I asked UPAG for help and they only replied thanking me for finding the results, but apparently they didn't even know when the championships were staged or how many were staged.
