  1. It looks like I celebrated too early. Paulina Campos now needs a great vault to qualify. She can still do it, but it will be close. Briceño also needs a great vault to reach Costa Rica.
  2. Oh, Daniela Briceño and Paulina Campos will have a particular battle for the second quota. Anyway, it looks like Mexico will easily qualify here.
  3. And the strict bars judges are at it again: all four of the Mexican girls had great routines but the scores are still quite low. At least they're consistently deducting everyone, so no bias here. But it's still weird.
  4. I didn't expect anything from de Luna, honestly, so it was not a surprise for me. But Paulina Campos scored 52.7 in Mexico's selection camp, and that's counting a fall on the floor exercise. I'm not sure she's going to beat Dominici here, especially because the judges seem to be extra picky on bars, but she can definitely beat Alvarado. I expected Magistrati to actually score around what Dominici did, so now that the bar is set much lower than I anticipated, it's Mexico's quota to lose.
  5. What a great surprise to see Alvarado ahead of Magistrati, even though will likely beat this score. Magistrati is the reigning South American champion in the all-around. Quite shocking, indeed!
  6. Final scores for Argentina: Team: 149.533, which is more than enough for a team medal. Probably bronze. AA: Dominici: 52.400, which is also good enough for a bronze medal, at least. However, she has already qualified for the Olympics, and the first eligible gymnast to qualify is Magistrati, who scored 48.433. This should not be enough for the Olympic quota, unfortunately.
  7. Yikes. 11.433 for Magistrati on vault. This pretty much ends her Olympic dream right off the bat. The door is wide open now for Guatemala and especially Mexico.
  8. I'm not sure if this is the most logical thing to do. The team absolutely needs his score on rings. Maybe Nory could get this extra spot, I guess? Team line up: FX: Zanetti, Diogo, Caio PH: Diogo, Barretto, Caio SR: Zanetti, Caio, Diogo VT: Caio, Diogo, Zanetti PB: Caio, Diogo, Barretto HB: Caio, Diogo, Barretto Extra quota: Nory
  9. Quotas are non-nominative because both countries qualified a full team at the World Championships. So, both and are free to send who they want to the Olympics with these quotas.
  10. A great day for Brazil. Gold medals at the team and all-around events for the first-time ever at the Pan American Championships. Okay, I know this was the C-team from the US since their A and B gymnasts are competing at the Nationals right now, but I'm still happy Brazil managed to qualify one extra quota to the Olympics and win two gold medals.
  11. With Jade out of the all-around competition, I believe Christal Bezerra will perform in the all-around. My best guess: Rebeca: VT, UB, BB, FX Lorrane: VT, UB, BB, FX Christal: VT, UB, BB, FX Julia: UB, BB Ana Luiza: VT. FX
  12. Nope, he's not. He has a minor injury which should recover quickly. At least this is what the Brazilian Olympic channel reported. About today's results: I strongly believe that and cannot be beaten by any of the remaining gymnasts for the Olympic quota. Let's see what can do, but at this point I believe they can only fight for a team medal, and not for an AA medal or the Olympic quota.
  13. Both Arthur Zanetti and Jade Barbosa got injured. I don't know why they keep pushing Jade into the teams. Her body just can't do gymnastics anymore. First-year senior Ana Luiza Lima will replace Jade. This will be her first competition, along with Júlia Soares and Christal Bezerra.
  14. Reports from the women's training sessions at the Pan Am Championships: Mexico is looking much better than I anticipated. They can seriously fight for one of the Olympic quotas. Argentina once again was terrible on the balance beam. Everybody fell at least once. Magistrati is not a lock for the second quota, unfortunately. Guatemala looks promising. Execution is all over the place, but she has potential. Costa Rica is a big surprise. I believe one of the girls could even win a medal here. Brazil is very strong and I'm both happy to see the girls are doing well, but sad because we lost our chance to qualify a full team.
  15. Welp. These scores are awful, except for Iordache's uneven bars score. The other girls who also qualified for the Olympics, like Ibrahim, Mohamed, Daries, Varinska, Castro and Holbura, all had terrible scores. Very disappointing so far.
  16. Yup, I got the facts completely wrong. It was actually the Central South Asian Championships, and it was not in the mid-2000s, but instead early 2010s. I found the page with the results that I remember reading at the time.
  17. Wait, gymnastics? Pakistan has not sent gymnasts to any of the World Championships in recent years! The only time I've even heard about a Pakistani gymnast was at the Southeast Asian Championships in the mid 2000s.
  18. That's an optimistic way of seeing things. The pommel horse is his worst event, but if he scores around 13, who knows? It might be enough for him to go over 80 if he has a solid performance in the other apparatus. Since both Gonzalez and Calvo haven't performed in the all-around for a very long time, who knows what could happen, right? I believe Brazil expects Diogo Soares to score around 80-82. I don't see many gymnasts with enough potential to reach a score higher than 82, so let's wait and see.
  19. He scored 77.350 at the 2019 Universiade and 74.865 at the 2019 World Championships. I strongly believe the qualifying scores will be at least over 80, maybe even in the 82-84 range.
  20. FIG didn't release any official statement, but Pranati Nayak has qualified whether Milka Gehani gets an invitation or not. This whole debacle is only noteworthy for Indonesia, because if Gehani gets an invitation, then Rifda Irfanaluthfi qualifies too.
  21. Guess I was right in the end: FIG is twisting the rules so they can invite to the Olympics and, at the same time, guarantee that qualifies for the first time in gymnastics. This would also probably explain why Sri Lanka was not offered a tripartite quota in rhythmic gymnastics; FIG was saving this twist until the end so they could be "generous" and give Sri Lanka an invitation in artistic gymnastics instead, despite their gymnast qualifying by her own merits.
  22. Nope, unfortunately. Even if she competes at the next stage of the series, she won't be able to catch the first-placed gymnast.
  23. What the!? This is horrible!!! It's Bidani right there, a medalist at the World Championships, training under such conditions! MAJOR respect for him!
  24. Not that many people might be interested, but the Aerobic Gymnastics World Championships have concluded. and won their first-ever medals! Historic gold medals for both nations. won a silver medal, their best result in the history of the world championships. won a medal after 11 years. Finally!
  25. Matvei Petrov in men's artistic gymnastics. Trampoline quotas will probably remain empty due to no nations being able to fulfill the criteria.
