Tulloch also had a low score on rings, 13.733. is on their way to secure an Olympic quota with Prokopev. has a group of very competent gymnasts. I can see the boys placing in the top 12 as a team for the 2024 Olympics.

So, apparently Larisa Iordache had a fever today. Very dangerous not only to her but to other gymnasts, and somewhat an irresponsible attitude from Romanian officials that could potentially threat all the other gymnasts if she has Covid. Anyway, there's a chance she might miss the event finals, but I'm more worried about her condition right now, and if the other gymnasts are okay, of course.

According to AGU's website, the championships have been canceled. So, this means that Akim Mussayev and Abdulla Azimov should take the Olympic quotas in men's artistic gymnastics. In women's artistic gymnastics the qualifiers are An Chang Ok and Eom Dohyun; however, since North Korea will likely not go to Tokyo, Tan Ing Yueh should be the qualifier. The only one I know from this list is Azimov, who is pretty good on the pommel horse.

I'm calling it: Brazil, France and Honduras. Not confident in the least about this, but one can dream. LOL.

The documents state that the scores from qualifications will decide the Olympic qualifiers. Definitely. If we sum up her best scores from last year's Euro, it adds up to 54.999. There's a natural fluctuation of scores between competitions, and the judges on the balance beam seem to be extra-strict this year, but she can do it, no question about it. I'll root for her.

Gadirova might have blown her chances thanks to her disastrous fall off the beam. Bummer. Heduit has a nice score, but definitely beatable. I'll keep an eye on Ferrari too. She might score higher than Heduit, at least, and with Gadirova's low score on beam, Ferrari might as well take the second spot for now. The door is wide open for Iordache, though. She might have it in the bag.

The qualification system is very confusing and I hate it, but at least one thing was clear from the start: the only way to get quotas in the continental championships is through the all-around competition. On the women's side I could see someone like Kovacs pulling off this kind of miracle, but on the men's side? I might be overlooking something here, but I really don't know how.

I don't follow men's gymnastics that much, but the comment above mine covered it well. I'd say , and might have the edge here, but I would not discard and probably and . Among the women, one of the quotas will go to Russia for sure. All four Russians will perform in the all around and three of them are eligible for the quotas. The other quota is hard to predict. The frontrunners are Iordache and Gadirova. and have slim chances. Anyone else would be a huge, huge surprise.

Color me surprised! I thought it was supposed to be one of the huge hits in Iran, but I was wrong! Now, about the difference between World Cup and World Championships, I think most international federations are the ones to blame. They should name the events "Grand Prix", "World Tour", "World Series" or anything like that. "World Cup" immediately alludes to a trophy and of course the first thing anyone thinks is that the winner is the best in the world.

What's the point? She's way ahead of either of them. I'd say Raffaeli and Baldassarri are the top contenders. What happened to Agiugiuculese? She's not on her best days. Neither is Baldassarri, to be honest.

Well, this is my favorite sport along with artistic gymnastics, but I'm always terrible at predictions, LOL. I forgot about mentioning how I think individuals will perform. So, the clear favorite is Dina Averina. The second Russian will be either Arina Averina or Lala Kramarenko. Arina has always been inconsistent, but Lala is still very young. Both are very talented and we'll have to wait until the very last second to know who will be chosen. However, I bet on Arina. The prospect of identical twins competing at the Olympics might be too much for Viner-Usmanova to pass up. Now, if history repeats itself, we'll have a surprising medalist on the podium. It's been like this in recent years: Zhukova in 2008, Charkashina in 2012 and Rizatdinova in 2016. While Ashram is the one everybody expects to succeed, she has a large crowd threatening her at the moment: Kaleyn, Harnasko and Raffaelli could "steal" this medal from Ashram. If we're stretching things here, Salos, Zeng, Kaleyn and Nikolchenko are the ones I expect to see in the top 10. Vedeneeva could also place in the top 10 if she has a fantastic day in qualifications.

Russia and Japan for sure. The third spot could be a total surprise, such as Uzbekistan, but I doubt it. I'd say Bulgaria, but Italy and Israel could take its place. Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Belarus would be the dark horses. Unless China has major upgrades, I believe they have no chance of getting a medal. It's hard to predict anything else at this point because we still need to know which nations will qualify. Europe: I don't think Spain will qualify. Turkey is more likely to qualify, but Germany, Finland or Estonia could also pull of a miraculous qualification. Of course, Ukraine might get the European quota, what means the WCh quota would be reallocated. Americas: Mexico is the clear favorite here. US and Canada are its nearest rivals. Brazil has suffered with major problems and, now, I'd say we have no chance at all of qualifying. Oceania: It's either Australia or New Zealand, but Australia has the edge. Still, either nation will be the weakest of the bunch. Africa: I'm not sure if Egypt's qualification will be uphold because apparently two gymnasts from the group tested positive for doping. I don't think any other nation from Africa follows the minimum requirements for qualification, so we shall see what FIG will do. Asia: Uzbekistan is the favorite for qualification. It's leaps and bounds ahead of the remaining countries available for a quota. South Korea and Kazakhstan are the only other nations which would be interested in the quota, but they are considerably behind Uzbekistan. Maybe Thailand would be interested too, who knows?

LOL, this looks like Bolivia at the South American Artistic Gymnastics Championships. There was a year when the Bolivian girls beat the Peruvian team for the bronze medal and I was like "noooo way, this is huge", even though there were only four teams competing.

Yet another fourth place for Mexico. I believe it's the fifth time they finish fourth in recent years. How frustrating! Judges, give them a medal already!

2013. It was not only the last, but the only one so far. Brazil was supposed to participate at the WC stages, but when the girls got to the airport, someone in the delegation tested positive for Covid. I'm not sure what's the status of the group now, but word of mouth has not been positive and even at their best, the girls would not come close to Mexico's level this year. Olympic qualification should be between the US and Mexico, with maybe Canada and Cuba as dark horses. Canada has lots of new gymnasts this year on their group, so I'm curious to see what they can do. Last year the Canadians won a medal at the Grand Prix series, so I hope they keep the level high this year too.

Tashkent is such a weird stage. There's always Russian drama and unbelievable scores. I remember Kabaeva throwing a tantrum in 2003 or 2004 and it was such a scandal in RG forums at the time. LOL. Anyway, as I mentioned earlier, you can't underestimate the big name countries. Even Turkey hit their routine today. Sixth place for Mexico with excellent scores overall, but the level was high here despite a depleted field with no Russia and Bulgaria. There are still lots of stages this year, and Portimão is usually the weakest of the WC stages, so I hope Mexico keeps getting funds for the travel expenses and don't give up this year. They deserve a medal.

Of course, I had to be the only one who thinks the OG were more memorable in the 20th century, LOL.

I'm very excited with the possibility of a medal for Mexico tomorrow. But I guess their best shot was in the all-around, since Ukraine had mistakes in both routines. In a field with Israel, Ukraine and Belarus, and Uzbekistan competing at home, gymnasts from other nations have to do their absolute best in order to get a medal.

I'm amaaaazed with her! She currently has the third highest combined difficulty in the world, behind only the Averinas. This is insane! She's going to be a star!
