I'd say the other 4th that hurt was 10m synchro diving. They scored better than the Italians on every dive but one and were off the podium by half a point.

Just catching up now that I'm checked into the hotel. Amazing gold for the W8!! I knew they looked good in the heats, but I never imagined a gold. What a thrilling race! Pretty much everything else looks to be a disappointment. Can't believe rugby. Wow. Just wow. Consistently on the podium in the rugby series, and to not even make the quarters. That's a complete blow up. At least Masse and Ruck made the final for tonight.

Well, I'll be on a flight tomorrow morning, so I'll miss quite a few things. Hoping Penny can do great things again. Hoping the W8 can compete. Hoping others can do their best to get to the next step. Hoping my flight won't be delayed like they usually are in China. Hoping the "outbreak of covid" (1 confirmed case) doesn't shut down the city I'm currently in any more than it has today so I can leave. Hoping for a lot of things here.

I'm thinking Ruck and Masse just swam the race before, Liendo just a few minutes before that, want to keep Penny ready for the 100 tomorrow morning, Pickrem not up to her best this meet so far. I'm sure they looked at how the other teams were finishing and decided to concentrate on other races.

Maybe with how some other nations are swimming here (China) they knew there was no real medal chance so they're happy to let those other nations tire out their swimmers on this relay.

So Canada not even trying to make the final with that line up, eh? Edit: What I mean by that is that when I saw Canada's line up I assumed the other teams would put in their B stars too. But the other countries put in many of their A players in the heats. Canada............ did not.

Any info on Canada's start list for the mixed relay tonight?

They should have won, but it's not the end of the world. They beat the French in 2016 in the quarters, and should beat them tomorrow. Remember, Canada lost to GB in the groups in 2016 and then beat them for the bronze later on. Not panicking yet.

Just got home after a long day trip. Watched the 4x200 relay, pretty disappointed. China really came out of nowhere there, huh? Hopefully they can make up for it in the women's medley. Disappointment in rowing, too. I thought both singles had good shots at making the finals, but in the end they weren't even close. A bronze is nice, though. Two more 4ths! Man, once they start handing out medals for 4th Canada will take over the world. Just kidding, then they'll get a bunch of 5ths instead. Hoping for good results in the pool tonight, not much else going on. Still a chance for Shady in Judo, though.

I guess after seeing Penny and Summer she decided she has a better chance in the relays than the breaststroke.

Hopefully Wog gives us confidence tonight.
