    The thought of Thomson - Herah testing positive must be Coe’s worse nightmare. Athletics popularity is already pretty damaged - lots of top doping scandals could finish the sport off financially.

    I have a feeling are in the end not going to send anyone. Whitlock is clearly not going and Fraser and Regini Moran have just had surgery. On the women side I think all four that went to Tokyo are going to take a break before a busy 2022 with two major home championships. will be there as Rhys McClenaghan has confirmed he is going.

    Mboma and Maslingi are going to be the story of Athletics in the coming year. I can’t see WA not wanting to try and have them out before Eugene.

    Canada is effectively 50/50 atm. The election result might well decide if Team Canada turns up. Way too many people are convinced a boycott will not happen.

    The IOC would never scrap one of the most popular sports no matter how corrupt and doped the governing body is.

    It seemed reasonably popular in the UK as the BBC had two dedicated commentators cover the highlights of every final including the majority that had no British participants. For some sports like Artistic Swimming the highlights used OBS commentators.

    Slovakia might well get to replace Canada who look fairly likely to withdraw from the games because as it looks I think the next PM of Canada is pro boycotting the games on safety grounds.

    I can’t see it coming back after it is axed. It will be a bit awkward due to the French political pressure to reinstate Karate to then axe a sport after saying the programme is fixed.

    I imagine they will be a big reaction in China as it will surely make it very hard to displace the USA from the top of the table.

    Max Whitlock was asked on Instagram yesterday if he thinks a mixed team event will come one day to Gymnastics and he said it would be an interesting idea.

    Some like Holly Bradshaw are targeting the WCH, Commonwealth and Europeans. Pole Vault through is an event where competing a lot through the season is usual.
