    Snap legislative election in France, could be very different government in place by the time games open with then what would have been expected. Can’t Imagine the IOC being happy that they could be turbulent times in France just as the games are arriving.

    China’s presence will overshadow these games entirely. UK and USA swimmers will protest on every Interview and on the podium. The IOC better be ready for every single view at home knowing China are industrial drug cheats and they have done nothing to ban then.

    Obviously a strange champs but the drop off in medal total from 2022 to this one could be very steep.

    Funding is being cut substantially no matter what and it could even be terminated if no medals are won and other sports justify getting a bigger share of a shrinking pot. There are also political concerns about if that money should be spent on elite sport vs grassroots sport. (Boxing with its demographics through could benefit more from that approach than sports like Rowing).

    Been told that athletes on the first days of the Europeans are not allowed to stay and watch the later days due to cost cutting.

    Pretty much a full strength squad except for the middle distance men. Didn’t expect KJT. Interesting that Reekie is doing the 1500m.

    Both lf those won medals. If Boxing falls to get even one the pressure will be on considerably particularly if the whole narrative of the entire team is a big drop in medals.
