I may have thought this when the score was 6-1 Spain. But as the game went on I realized they were playing like the stronger team, they never gave up when they were down. It’s unfortunate they didn’t win against Spain but should they beat Hungary I do think they should be a medal contender, just like they have been at most of the competitions they’ve been at.

There's some talk in the SwimSwam comments about Penny missing the standard and whether there will be spots for OCT - I'm not sure if anyone knows more about here? Like she just marginally missed the standard by .05 seconds, do you think she'll likely be able to swim it individually?

Smith can also be used for the mixed relay or in the heats in the medley relay so I think she would be a beneficial pick overall.

But the stat @orangeman provided is still accurate - would have been 5th in Tokyo.

There was some doubt in the SwimSwam comments if she was a Canadian citizen - don't know whether to believe that.

Everyone brought it during the heats. That was about as fast as I was expecting the final to be.

I totally forgot to point out how happy I am for Javi Acevedo, like I remember being so impressed when he qualified in 2016 and then in 2020 I was totally shocked that he was even named to the team. Feeling good about him now getting to make the team in the 100m backstroke. Hopefully it bodes well for his freestyle.

I think Tierney and Acevedo are in Priority 1.

I can't help but feel disappointed again, no Wigginton, Penny realistically not being ready for her comeback, the 100m breast being a flop after a lot of anticipation. It's definitely outweighing the good right now.
