  1. Everyone who bet 10 points that the combined winning time in skeleton will be 1s or more can already open a bottle of champagne. In the men's competition alone it should be 1,5 seconds at least. I thought it was pretty funny that the korean guy barely competed in training, he probably had more training runs on this track than all other athletes combined.
  2. Top 5 will fight for medal. I think it will be 1) Shiffrin 2/3) Mowinckel + an italian girl Very sad that the best athlete of the season had a blackout. This was the last olympic medal chance in Rebensburg's career and now it's already over, but still i am extremely happy that finally we can see some sport, i really missed that.
  3. I read that the decision would probably be made in 2021. The idea is basically pushed by one sports manager (Michael Mronz) and the idea is to have 13 cities host the olympics together. For example: Aachen = Equestrian, modern pentathlon Bonn = Baseball, basketball, softball, archery Dortmund = Football, shooting, wrestling, road cycling, skateboarding Duisburg = Football, canoeing, rowing Düsseldorf = Basketball, badminton, track cycling, beach volleyball, handball, judo, tennis, table tennis, volleyball + Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Cologne, Krefeld, Leverkusen, Mönchengladbach, Oberhausen, Recklinghausen Here you can find a map, which sports should take place where (according to first plans): http://www.wz.de/home/sport/olympia-in-nrw-diese-staedte-sollen-die-spiele-2032-ausrichten-1.2474742 I think people could get behind it, but the whole idea is to keep it very cheap, so we know what the IOC will think about it ... The people who organized this said that 80% of the facilities are already there and have to be renovated, there are 5 stadiums with a capacity of at least 45.000 and 24 indoor facilities with a capacity of at least 3000. All the swimming competitions should take place in a temporary pool inside the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen.
  4. I don't think that they can win the medal table. By total medals, they don't really have a chance to win 30 or more and i think Norway + maybe 2-3 other nations (Germany, Canada, USA) will do that. By gold, they might, i think the best case for them would be 12 golds here, but i think Germany (7 golds already + possible chances in women's skeleton, 3 x bob, luge team relay, alpine skiing giant slalom, biathlon women's relay, biathlon men's relay, biathlon mixed relay, nordic combined large hill, nordic combined team, ski jumping large hill, ski jumping team, snowboarding women's PGS) + maybe Norway can get there as well. Women's 500 m: Before the games this was by far the least likely gold for the Netherlands and i think it still is, maybe 10% at best i would say. Women's 5000 m: I think they will win gold there, don't know who Women's team pursuit: Hard to say, probably about 50% for gold Men's/Women's mass start: Impossible to say for me, don't understand it, don't care about it, don't know who the favorites are, but whenever i watched it, i thought that the outcome looks pretty "random". Men's 500/1000 m: Without the russians, i expect the dutch to win 2 golds Men's 10000 m: Safe gold Men's team pursuit: I'd say their chance might even be better than on the women's side, but in the world cup they never take it seriously, so i don't know what they are capable of. I think 4 golds should be safe + maybe 2 more.
  5. I don't hope so. By saying that you are basically showing the same behavior as the korean fans, of course at a much less harmful level. They blamed her for a (possible) mistake by the judges, now you "blame" the korean athletes (by basically wishing them bad luck) for the things their (supposed) fans did. It's bad enough that politics infiltrated sports again, but to see people threating someone's life because of a sports result is a quite shocking for me. It's good to be passionate about sports, but with those people i have the feeling that they are not really passionate about sport but more about their national pride. I think it would be great if everyone could turn it down a notch, if we haven't reached the "point of no return" by now of course.
  6. I doubt that they will win women's 500 m, women's team pursuit should also be difficult and let's see about mass start.
  7. Japan is winning tons of medals, but never gold ...
  8. Absolutely horrible, i wanted gold for Kodaira. The only good result would have been 1) Kodaira 2) Ter Mors 3) Herzog.
  9. Yeah, it's really sad. They should just get rid of men's 10000 m and women's 5000 m + that weird mass start. I absolutely see no reason why there should be more individual events in speed skating than in cross-country. 500, 1000, 1500 + 3000/5000 is absolutely enough.
  10. Now we have a race ...
  11. I just want to see Herzog winning a medal here, then i can die happily.
  12. I almost can't count the number of medal chances Germany will have tomorrow. If everything goes well, Germany might more medals tomorrow than most nations have won during the whole games so far. - 2 x biathlon - figure skating - luge team relay - speed skating men's 10 000 m - men's snowboard cross - women's giant slalom - men's downhill I hope for one medal in women's individual, a medal in figure skating, gold in luge, a medal in men's snowboard cross and a medal in women's giant slalom. I don't see Beckert winning a medal, he seems to be completely out of shape. In men's biathlon everything is possible, but one medal should be guaranteed for Fourcade and hopefully Boe will finally show his true self and win the gold. Two medals is already much more than expected, so i won't ask for more. In men's downhill i don't think starting first will help Dreßen, but top 6 would be absolutely amazing for him. If 4 out of Svindal, Jansrud, Kriechmayer, Mayer, Bennett mess up he might have a tiny chance for a medal. Feuz would have to crash or miss a gate for Dreßen to have any chance to beat him. I don't know about the odds for Feuz, but for me this is the 2nd safest gold medal bet here, only behind Shiffrin in women's slalom.
  13. I kind of like Ter Mors, it is really cool that she competes in two different sports, i will cheer for her today. De Jong and Ter Mors are the only dutch speed skaters i like.
  14. There are only 12 athletes in men's 10 k! Sorry, but for me this should not be an olympic event.
  15. Yeah, he doesn't have a medal chance anyway, so he could as well just withdraw. I wasn't "shocked" because i thought "wow, this is bad for his medal chances", but because i was surprised that he would fly back and forth just to star in a tv show.
  16. I am sorry for you, do you have TLC? They show a replay right now, but i don't know if its only in Germany ...
  17. I also would have given the victory to superstar Ayumu, because his grabs were much better, but i don't think it's as big a scandal as Klapfer winning a medal in nordic combined. I hope that White retires to finally make way for the new era of Ayumu Hirano. Hirano is 19 years old and already has two olympic silvers, he will be considered the best halfpipe athlete ever after his retirement. White should focus on skateboarding at the 2020 olympics now. Maybe he will become the next athlete to win medals at both olympics. Also interesting: Gerard flew home, because he will be a guest in Jimmy Kimmel's show, although he will compete in big air in a couple of days.
  18. I am very sorry for Riiber, but his time will come very soon.
  19. Very bad result. When is Watabe finally going to win gold? It's enough! Frenzel being slow like a turtle all season long and now he is the new Northug all of a sudden?
  20. I don't get what Frenzel is doing ... he wastes energy and doesn't help Rydzek, very stupid.
  21. Please Watabe, don't allow Klopfer to steal the gold.
  22. Very stupid by Frenzel, he should have allowed Rydzek to join the lead, this would have been the best for Germany.
  23. I don't think so. If he really has so much left, he should better try to get to the front instead of waiting for Rydzek to pull him there, because that won't happen.
  24. Frenzel destroying all german gold medal chances by increasing the speed, Rydzek would have been the only one who could have won gold.
