  1. has gone with a pair of boxers Kellie Harrington & Brendan Irvine One from Dublin, one from Belfast 3rd summer games in a row where the Irish flag bearers have been boxers 8th time in total for boxing
  2. Suppose we shouldn't be too hard. It's just fluff content. As soon as draws are done nearly all the one v one sports will be impossible
  3. 6 for Ireland may be optimistic but I'm still reeling from them having Tomassone of France ahead of McClenaghan in pommel
  4. Athletes born in Ireland but competed for other nations. A run down https://www.balls.ie/olympics/irish-born-athletes-tokyo-473586
  5. I’ve never seen anybody not want an Olympics as much as you don’t want one orangehair
  6. No, they wouldn’t normally show underage meets Didn’t even show the senior world championships a few years ago (but do show european indoor/outdoor where we may medal…)
  7. After day 3 lead the medal table 16 year old Nick Griggs looks a really exciting talent
  8. Indeed. Slowing down at the end and still ran an Irish senior record
  9. You need to chill out. Why are you so angry all the time? Adeleke’s best compares well with the winners of that competition. Maybe she’d win, maybe she wouldn’t have. I’d be confident she’d compete and beat those girls its fine if you disagree but you asking everybody who disagrees with you have they ever watched sport is getting tiresome
  10. Ireland will hope to draft in Adeleke for the final too
  11. But it’s not special treatment from the IOC really. If someone is a citizen of, say, Brazil or Netherlands or Malta or whoever they can represent them That’s how it works for Ireland and GB. The people of Northern Ireland are entitled to citizenship of both and that’s that really. It’s nothing new
  12. She won gold at under 18 level in the 200m. She *should* repeat in that here in Tallinn. She probably would have won the under 23s if she was allowed enter I hope she lowers her won senior record too
  13. The "zip it" gesture was a little too Lance-like for me
  14. They started with 5 thanks to the inclusion of the token Israeli rider, Greipel and Froome. Dan Martin was clearly too tired after the Giro. At least Woods gave it a go
  15. They weren't the "worse team". They deservedly beat Germany, just like the have the other 2 times they've played them this year in competitive games In fact The Netherlands have won every international trophy they've competed in for the last 10 years except for when England/GB have beaten them on penalties and 2 defeats to Argentina in Argentina. So yeah, it's safe to say they're far superior
  16. You don’t understand. So I’d worry about other things if I was you.
  17. You keep asking about this and to be honest, I’m not sure you will ever understand it. I’m not sure how much simpler I can break it down for you Athletes from Northern Ireland have a right to citizenship of both GB and Ireland. They can compete for either in the Olympics.
  18. The game that the Netherlands won 2-0 without really trying? Yeah I watched that one... The Dutch are by some distance the best team around. They lost in a shootout in Rio, so shocks can happen but anything other than gold for them is a shock
  19. Apart from those you've mentioned, Kurt Walker in boxing, the Mens Double in rowing, the golfers and both sailing crews (We know Annalise Murphy turns up at the Olympics) are all potential medalist. Outside chances include Jack Wooley in Taekwondo, the Fletchers in Judo, rugby and hockey teams (0-0ing their way to another final), Natalya Coyle in MP and even the track cycling boys are all outside bets. It is genuinely the first time Ireland have had so many contendors Obviously the vast majority won't medal but I do think that with average luck (ie no illness, injuries, falls or dodgy decisions), The Lightweight doubles, Puspure, Harrington and McClenaghan should medal.
  20. Awful situation with the Polish relay teams but a similar thing happened with Ireland They apparently didn’t understand the limit on relay only spots. Brendan Hyland is a butterfly swimmer and got a OST time invitation so he’s part of the 800 free relay along with backstroke (and now butterfly?!) Shane Ryan who hasn’t swam 200 free since he was 16 Would have been pretty embarrassing after the 400 medley relay debacle
  21. I think Pog wanted to gift that to Vingegaard for yesterday but Mas sprinting 300m out made him chase Good to see some form from Dan Martin. Good sign for Tokyo
  22. For Ireland I think only the top one should be safe but ranking them I’d go 1) O’Donovan/McCarthy - Lightweight double sculls - rowing 2) Sanita Puspure - single sculls - rowing 3) Kellie Harrington - 60kg - boxing
