I'll be happy if we come out with two golds from here with Alekna and Karinauskaitė. A 400m final for Keršulis. And a good PB for Vaitaitytė in Heptathlon. Lukrecija Sabaitytė could do okay in 200m and perhaps increase her slim chances to qualify to the European Championships in 2024. Other than that, highly disappointed that we're sending only 8 athletes. Our race walker that was qualified is nowhere to be seen, two athletes qualified days after the qualification was closed. Our talented javelin thrower quit the sport and other three candidates didn't recover from injuries all season. This 8 people team could've easily been 16 at least, but a really bad season for our u23ers.

Apparently, our Tajus Juška is the third fastest freestyle swimmer at 14 years old, only bested by David Popovici and Jacob Whittle. Awful time from Plytnykaitė, but a gold is a gold, and the confidence is needed for world junior champs

Tajus Juška continues to impress with 6 Q mark to the 100m Free semis, against athletes 4 years older than him. He would've swept like three golds at EYOF if he was old enough to participate Jazdauskas and Babakinas scrape by to their semis. Other than that, lots of underperformances today from many of our team, but at least we managed another final in the 4x200m Free. The evening session is very important though, as it's the final chance for our Freestyle talent Plytnykaitė to get any medal at these championships. Don't know if she is at her peak here, but she is swimming somewhat close to her PB's. She needs to pull though today and show that her 1st entry time here wasn't just for show.

It's weird how much the high jump scene declined in both the men's and the women's field. Most of the athletes are now struggling at 1.90 and 2.25 lately.

Lithuania is starting their relay campaign as they held the 4x400m men's relay at the COSMA cup, because they believed that with Keršulis, Sutkus and Janarauskas the NR was possible. Together with the oldest member of the team - Trumpa (1998yob) they achieved the NR at 3:09.93, which was set back in 2004. The aim is to qualify to the European Championships.

Jeeeeez, Tajus Juška is an insane talent. He already medaled in the men's 4x100m Freestyle and qualified to both the 100 Fly and 50 Free semis this morning. This is Meilutytė level of talent at 14 years old... Hope he has a long and healthy career.

Woah, a medal on the very first day, and it's the men's 4x100m Freestyle relay!!!!!!!!! Our mega talent 14yo Tajus Juška was a part of the four. He was taken to the Junior championships, because he was too young to participate in EYOF (2009yob)

Lithuania sending a very very small U23 team consisting of 8 athletes, but two are heavy candidates for gold medals. Mykolas Alekna and Greta Karinauskaitė both have the 1st entry time/result. Tomas Keršulis is good enough for a 400m final. Will be interesting to see if there are improvements from Vaitaitytė in the heptathlon. Sabaitytė and Seikauskas both can achieve a 200m semifinal at best. Klimukaitė and Gailevičius are just statistics in the 100m/110m Hurdles heats.

Personally for me it's a huge event. It gives us a glimpse into the future, secures important funding and scholarships for younger athletes, providing them with necessary resources to stay in the sport. The fact that we've sent a record number of swimmers, both our relays are in the finals, it's a huge deal for Lithuania and perhaps we're on our way to become an even bigger threat in the aquatic scene.

Patiently waiting for a European junior championships thread Lithuanian team this year is massive! 19 swimmers, starting in all of the relays. Plytnykaitė has nr. 1 entry time in 100m Free, so she is our likeliest medal chance in this competition.

One of the events where Lithuania is really hurt that only two athletes can represent their country at the Olympic Games. Asadauskaitė, Venčkauskaitė and Serapinaitė are all on a very similar level right now. Would love to have all three in Paris, because any of them could win, but also everyone can bomb out all the same

I thought there was a slight chance for Galvydytė, if the 1st division ran a tactical race, but it's crazy to see her win a bronze in 1500m, when she runs this distance like twice a year at best

After leading the 4x400 mixed relay in the Team Championships two days ago, Lukas Sutkus just ran a 46.41 at the Bauhaus Junior Gala in Germany. That's the third best European U20 time this season. He instantly becomes a possible medal contender for Lithuania at the EU u20s later this year. Edit: additional info, it's also the fourth best Lithuanian time, he broke The U20 NR and 19yo NR, the records were both 45 and 35 years old. Interestingly enough, Janarauskas (2006yob) is breaking the age group records that Sutkus has been setting, so with Keršulis, we have three very capable men in the 400m field, so a successful 4x400m relay could be coming our way if these guys stay in the sport.

Honestly, seeing Russia's map light up more than Ukraine's was really a good feeling. After all of the terror they caused, it feels right that they face terror of their own.

I don't know, a couple of years ago our women's hammer throw was 40 metres, our pole vault was 3.10 and 4.40 respectively. We didn't have any decent male runners in 400m (our 4x400m relay was a laughing stock) and longer distances. Hurdles used to be questionable, weak men's triple jump. Somehow we found a way to make things work. I miss us being a threat in 100 metres though. We have some very talented juniors coming through, but two of the guys are not progressing this year and one girl stopped progressing after various injuries. But perhaps we'll see them in 2025 if things turn around for the better.
