  1. Damn, just arrived to the thread to say exactly that
  2. But that's my problem with it. They had decent staging, so why revert everything to the bare minimum? and they didn't change much of anything regarding the drummer and the vocalist, so if you're planning to dress your backing vocalists like they're going to a barbeque and have them do nothing, take them off the stage completely and play more camera angles on the lead vocals and the drummer.
  3. I'm still mad at Hungary for how much of a downgrade 2016's Eurovision performance was compared to what they did at their NF... Hired less professional backing vocalists that kinda ruined the chorus, dressed them up in plain T-shirts and jeans and took away their glowsticks so they could just bounce from one leg to the other whilst clapping with their hands.
  4. Wait a second, these are the backing vocalists from Sweden 2019 2020 is the year for all the backing vocalists to shine
  5. Perhaps they also bought a cow on a previous errand for this exact purpose?
  6. If anyone's wondering if I finally had a breakthrough in my scoring after listening to the songs a hefty amount of times, well then, three songs still changed places Send help
  7. Well, sorry to spoil your Sunday, but you'll get mine earlier than that. Though seeing as I'll be working a lot at the start of the week, I assume my final listen will be scheduled for Friday and I think I'm going to do another listen right now
  8. It's a matter of pride as much as it is a strong desire to show my appreciation I especially feel bad, because often songs that I think are the best may get overlooked and not voted on. So if there's a song with like 14 points at the bottom of the scoreboard and I know that it was thirteenth on my list, you bet I'm gonna feel bad
  9. and it's gonna stay five if we can't give points to more than twelve nations
  10. Lithuanians painfully slow, that's going to deal some damage to the nation cup points
  11. 5th listen in and everything is still constantly changing. I'm still stuck with 17 songs only because given any other year, they'd be in the top 12. If anybody is planning to leave the listening for the final day, don't do it to yourselves My movements from the 2nd listen to the 5th one 1st >>> 1st 2nd >>> 2nd 3rd >>> 7th 4th >>> 6th 5th >>> 8th 6th >>> 3rd 7th >>> 9th 8th >>> 4th 9th >>> 5th 10th >>> 10th 11th >>> 12th 12th >>> 15th 13th >>> 11th 14th >>> 16th 15th >>> 14th 16th and 17th out of the competition 18th >>> 17th 22nd >>> 13th I'll probably need a couple more listens to sort this mess out, but yeah, a lot of these songs have growth potential overtime, so I'd suggest taking your time listening to the music
  12. Yup, she would have landed somewhere between Yurlova and Hauser. With this performance, I'm very eager to see the men's sprint and hoping that the fellas won't let me down. Vytautas is a much stronger bet than Kočergina if he shoots clear, Kaukėnas is finally starting to look alive, the only question mark is Dombrovski now whom looked rather dead in the European Championships and decided not to start after the super sprint, so it's not certain if he recovered in the short period of time.
  13. Another listen in and songs have started to switch places here & there. This is definitely the year where I would advocate for 1 point to 12/13 and 14 or at least the reserve list added in the final scoreboard, because I know I'm gonna feel hella bad for whomever ends up in the 13th and 14th spot of my scoreboard.
  14. Well, the Lithuanian women look the most alive that they've been all year. If Natalija didn't mess up in the standing shoot, a PB was waiting for her, but she missed two and really a shame for that second one, because she took her time to miss the final target. On the other hand, it is the second best career result for Gabrielė Leščinskaitė in 58th place. She has been really struggling since her junior days and she is slowly getting back to an upwards trajectory in her results.
  15. Damn, you really didn't give much time to yourself to rank the songs I remember the year when I hosted I had instant regrets a few weeks later, when I got addicted to some songs more than others.
  16. Welcome to the weirdest result sheet.
  17. What if all the best songs fall into the same group and are eliminated early?
  18. Somehow this is not happening to me this year. I don't know if it's my psychology wanting to affirm my past decisions as correct or I just got a bit better at identifying what I like and what I like less in a shorter period of time At the moment my lower bracket did not even break into the higher bracket that I had after first listen, so the movement is shuffling from 3-9 and 10-15 and then there's me desperately hanging onto 16-21, because they're not antagonising to listen to.
  19. Welcome to the struggles Since I had the pleasure to test out my new headphones, I'm already on three listens and not any closer to the answer. I have 21 songs now and I fully understand that my 15th place is not going to touch the song that is in 12th right now, but it's difficult saying goodbye
  20. Would the IBU cup athletes have an advantage in Nove Mesto, because they're used to racing with zero spectators?
  21. Okay, I'm in love with Iceland. Even though I'm gunning for a Lithuanian victory (cause it would be cheaper to see Eurovision then), I wouldn't be mad if it won
  22. Well, a bit off topic, but the Poles had it a bit worse. IEM Katowice was without crowd attendance and they usually have 100k+ attendance numbers to boast about. With all of the refunded tickets, I can't imagine what kind of financial mess that was.
  23. so... home advantage for Lithuania???
  24. Well, since I sometimes feel that I have a somewhat addiction to this contest and caught up with the Tunisian entry just now, all I can say is that this one feels like one of the best contests we've had so far. I have 9 songs qualifying to the upper bracket and a 17 song bloodbath in the lower bracket (often songs from the lower bracket grow on me, so upper bracket is never safe, but a good indication that it's gonna be there till the reserve portion of the evaluation process) So that leaves only 11 songs that went out after the very first listen and that is the smallest number ever in the years of judging this contest. The only irk I have with this edition is that there are a few genres that are completely underrepresented this year.
