  1. I think you get 6 quotas by default, which means that you have to qualify at least 4 teams at the qualification events to have 6 teams in Paris. Seems very much plausible now that Russia is out of the picture.
  2. Yes, I know, I am just keeping track of how the teams are performing before the qualification starts.
  3. There are the teams that would qualify for the next Games based on the current World Ranking: Men's sabre - Women's epee -
  4. wins against this time in the semi, "revenge" for Tokyo. Another v final.
  5. Predictable Top4 in men's sabre this time, v and v
  6. Gergő Szemes in the men's foil QFs, he continues to be one of most promising Hungarian talents since... I can't even remember the last time we had results like this in men's foil.
  7. did it again after the ECh bronze, they are in the men's sabre QFs after defeating .
  8. Yay, it had to happen eventually, Szilágyi finally wins his first ever individual WCh after 3 Olympic gold medals.
  9. Ferrari found a way to throw their 1-2 victory away. Poor Leclerc, this should have been a big moment for him in the WCh, instead he isn't even on the podium.
  10. finishing 4th after eliminating the Olympic champions in the QF.
  11. Kudos to the girls, it was a very good effort against the US, I think this was the most exciting final they had in recent years and it was definitely the closest match for the US at this WCh. Maybe next time.
  12. The draw indicates that these will be the teams fighting for the QF spots: Path A/B - (RIP and ) Path C/D - Path E/F - Path G/H - C/D seems like the hardest to call, maybe even can surprise if the Europeans will be weak.
  13. That was one crazy semi-final, and our girls successfully won the silver. First WCh final in 17 years. Not much of a chance against the US, but at least we are finally there.
  14. Truly terrible match for us, this was embarrassing at home, in Budapest. Just like in the semi-final against Greece in Tokyo, the entire team simply capitulated, many errors from everyone. I don't understand what's going on with this Hungarian team, they are throwing away important matches. (And just for the record, Italy was leading by 4 goals before the final two minutes, the final result isn't ugly because they pretty much let us score goals when it was already over)
  15. should always be a NATO member, their location is very important in any type of European and Middle Eastern conflict. And I think Turkey is more than capable of finding the "right way", they just have to realize eventually that Erdogan is an idiot. He comes off as the Mussolini of our times, a truly incompetent leader, he makes other authoritarian leaders like Orbán look good by comparison.
  16. Just because I wanted to look it up, our semi-finals since 2005: 2006 ECh - lost 2007 WCh - lost 2008 ECh - lost 2008 SOG - lost 2012 ECh - lost 2012 SOG - lost 2013 WCh - lost 2014 ECh - lost 2016 ECh - won 2016 SOG - lost 2018 ECh - lost 2019 WCh - lost 2020 ECh - lost 2020 SOG - lost Yeah... for some reason we just can't go past Spain at the these big events. Thankfully they aren't in our way this time and the US is also in the other half of the bracket, which is why this is a big opportunity for us. The Dutch also beat us in SFs before but at least it's not Spain this time.
  17. Very strange match yesterday, Australia played well for the first quarter, scored three goals and then they were so focused on the defense that they couldn't score any more goals for the next two quarters. Our girls were very nervous and missed many opportunities, this could have been an easier match for us. Big opportunity coming up against the Dutch, we haven't been in a WCh final since 2005. But we win SFs so rarely... Since 2005 we reached the SF in 14 big international events (SOG, WCh, ECh) and we only won one (at the 2016 ECh).
  18. The hype was quite low even here in Hungary for this WCh. You can sense that this was a last minute thing and not everyone took it seriously. Having three WChs in one and a half year is a terrible idea from FINA, they should have cancelled the 2022 edition after Japan refused to host it this year. 2022 should have been the "quiet" year for the Olympic cycle, as usual, the year without WChs, where the FIFA World Cup is the main event and the big Olympic sports only have EChs. Now 2022 is way too crowded with events, while at the same time none of them truly feel special because we just had two Olympic Games in a short amount of time.
  19. The Hungarian media is divided on our performance, the state controlled media is quite positive, the independent media is negative on the Hungarian results. Personally I think we did fine. Milák being the only Hungarian medal winner in the pool was expected, this already happened in Tokyo. Our current gen of swimmers simply aren't on the level of Hosszú, Gyurta and Cseh. Milák is the only exception. And it doesn't help that Késely turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments of the last decade for Hungarian swimming. I would say that as long as we win medals, it's fine. The bigger issue for Hungary is the overall potential medal performance in Paris, which I think doesn't look good at the moment. If the next SOG was this year, I very much that we would reach the heights of the previous three Summer Games. 2 years to go until Paris, Hungary needs to improve in various disciplines or Paris will be quite bad for us.
  20. It looks like the QFs will be... v v or v v That's going to be one tough match against Italy. Greece on the other hand is looking really good for another Top4 placement.
  21. Unless I am forgetting someone, Molnár is first of her generation from Hungary to qualify for an individual WCh final, she was born in 2006. I know that the women's 200 back field is kinda weak this time, but still, finally something promising from our next generation.
  22. Always nice to see other nations win from our region because it happens so rarely at the WCh and the Olympics. Popovici is so young, I very much hope he can keep this up for at least two more years and win that Olympic gold.
  23. Kudos to , it wasn't an easy final for us at all, but we finally got our first medal here and it's a gold.
  24. The fuck, both and are out in the men's sabre QFs, and beat them. Two of our strongest opponents are out, big opportunity for a Hungarian gold.
