  1. It looks like Szoboszlai will very likely miss EURO2020. No Szoboszlai, no Kalmár... we are fucked. We actually had a good team for once but these two injuries killed our small chance to do a miracle in that group. And both of these injuries seem severe, they might never be the same after it.
  2. btw, Hungary will skip the second World Cup in Barnaul, it's too close to the second Hungarian Olympic trials for us, which will take place on May 28-30 and will finalize our Olympic canoe team.
  3. The (thankfully) small Hungarian team: Men's K1 200m - Kolos Csizmadia Men's K2 1000m - Kornél Béke, Ádám Varga Men's C1 1000m - András Bodonyi Men's C2 1000m - Balázs Adolf, Dániel Fejes We are missing 1 athlete quota in men's kayak and 3 athlete quotas in men's canoe. We really need at least one quota in men's canoe, it would be a catastrophe if we can't qualify anyone in that discipline on the men's side.
  4. I haven't seen anything about this. I think logic dictates that we will have two boats as long as the athletes want to compete in more events, but who knows, maybe they will feel like one boat per event is enough. But if we can't send two strong boats in women's kayak for example, no one can.
  5. The results of the first day of the first Hungarian Olympic trials: To qualify for the European qualifier: Men's K1 200m 1. Kolos Csizmadia 36.844 2. Levente Apagyi 37.389 3. Márk Balaska 37.605 Men's K2 1000m 1. Kornél Béke, Ádám Varga 3:26.878 2. Levente Kurucz, Benedek Kós 3:29.593 3. Bálint Noé, Tamás Kulifai 3:32.898 Men's C1 1000m 1. Ádám Bodonyi 4:25.275 2. Attlika Szőke 4:26.714 3. Ádám Slihoczki 4:28.708 Other races that were more of a test for the athletes, we will have another trial event for these: Women's K1 500m 1. Dóra Bodony 1:59.445 2. Alida Dóra Gazsó 1:59.889 3. Tamara Csipes 2:00.161 Danuta Kozák missed the event because she's injured. Women's C1 200m 1. Virág Balla 52:232 2. Kincső Takács Deveriné 52.688 3. Danni Seres 52.854
  6. btw, we are spending around 1.5 million euro on the bubble. People are obviously not happy about this, but Orbán never cared about what the citizens of Budapest wanted as its by far the most liberal part of the country.
  7. Is the Aquatics European Championships going to be the largest international sport event since COVID started? We will have around 2500 athletes from 51 countries in Budapest, and we will have around 4000 people in the bubble. I guess this might be the best test of the large bubble before the Games.
  8. This isn't that strange in this event when we had the likes of Josefa Idem, Štěpánka Hilgertová and Birgit Fischer winning medals finishing in the Top6 over 40. She still won't break Josefa Idem's record, who was 47-year-old when she finished 5th.
  9. We are sending 4 Hungarian athletes, including our two ECh medalists, so maybe there's a small chance that we will qualify in this sport for the first time in ages, but I am not holding my breath. Men's 58 kg: Omar Salim (Maybe our best chance? But he's so young.) Men's 68kg: Levente Józsa Women's 57kg: Luca Patakfalvy Women's 67kg: Rebeka Füredi
  10. Péter Bácsi said that he would be satisfied with 3-4 Hungarian quotas from this event. As if we would ever win that many quotas here, did he pay attention at the European qualifier? I wouldn't even be surprised if we won't win any quotas in Sofia.
  11. I meant as if LA2028 would happen this year during COVID instead of Tokyo2020.
  12. We beat Croatia for the first time in 8 years and we won the Euro Cup, ahead of Croatia and Spain. Can we please get a wildcard for Tokyo? Joking aside, this is one more great sign for the ECh and the entire Paris Olympic cycle.
  13. This sprint race is like the stages of a NASCAR race, they just take a break for a full day between the stages. People should view the sprint race as that, an addition to the race where they take a break between the two stages, like at NASCAR, the real qualification will be on Friday. Liberty only calls this sprint race qualification because people would be even more angry if they would call it "Race Stage 1", while the race on Sunday "Race Stage 2".
  14. To be fair, Japan isn't the only wealthy nation that would struggle to host under these circumstances. I think the situtation with Paris2024 wouldn't be substantially better. Brisbane2032 might have already been cancelled, we are lucky that Australia isn't hosting. LA2028 would probably be the best case scenario for COVID, or countries like Great Britain or China hosting again.
  15. It's all politics. Many people here in Hungary are also outraged by how we will have a full stadium for EURO2020, and yet, if you go outside, everything seems normal and crowded. It depends on who's in charge. Orbán both loves sports and wants to use the EURO2020 matches as a celebration of how he "defeated" COVID in Hungary, so we will have a full stadium. The leaders of Japan obviously have a different opinion on how they can gain popularity with their supporters.
  16. We are opening up. Now that 40% of the population is vaccinated, for the first time in many months people can attend various sport events, like football matches, if they have been vaccinated.
  17. Yeah, that makes perfect sense. Sure. I hope we can win our missing quotas at the Asian qualifier.
  18. Magam se értem hogyan, de Nagy Bianka VB 10. helye kajak-kenuban utólag kvótát ért. Ez azt jelenti, hogy női kenuban megvan mind a 3 kvóta.
  19. Um, what? We just won a quota in women's C1 200m? This qualification system is bizarre.
  20. I sometimes mess around with stats if an international federation doesn't provide visual aid in some form, like how I couldn't find anything on FIE's site that shows how the world ranking changed over time (like, event by event). So I made these because I wanted to see how much of a clusterfuck men's team epée was. How the world ranking of men's team epée changed since Rio for the 9 qualified teams: And the fight for the last few quotas between and where we ended up being the big losers of this Olympic cycle in this event.
  21. Well, my little experiment on YouTube is coming to an end. I was wondering how long it will take IOC to attack the YT channel where I upload stuff. It took them 10 days to remove most of the videos from Sydney. I won't upload there anymore, unless I do stuff like upload highlights, IOC doesn't take down edited footage. I will continue to upload full aired footage on the Ok channel up to London 2012. I think they also aired stuff from Rio, but I can't find those anywhere.
  22. Wtf, are we cursed, or something? This is the third draw after EURO2020 and the women's handball Olympic tournament where we get a really difficult group. And we always get . Group B - Yikes, RIP. The other groups: Group A - Group C - Group D -
  23. Wow, we beat Spain in Malaga at the Men's Euro Cup. I am not sure if we are getting stronger, or Spain is getting weaker, or they just didn't care about the match. Can we please replace our women's team in Tokyo with our men's team? Our men's team seems so much better lately, it's a shame that they missed out on the Games.
  24. I think the wealthier nations will make sure that their athletes will be there 14 days before the Games to reduce the risk. Europeans would likely travel there early anyway to get used to the time zone. IOC probably wants to avoid the complete withdrawal of some nations so they aren't making anything mandatory other than the testing and the usual CIVID safety measures.
  25. As far as I know people can have positive tests even after they have been vaccinated, it's just not as likely. It will be the job of each country to vaccinate their athletes and reduce the risk of their withdrawal. I know for sure that every Hungarian who will travel to Tokyo will be vaccinated (unless we will have someone under 18 in our team).
