  1. Yeah it'd be easier to say top two all-arounds qualify, the next two athletes will be selected in a way that maximizes their team score.
  2. Just a reminder, the host reallocation takes place after all the quotas are decided. Therefore, Ukraine can still qualify through the continental qualifier allowing it to transfer to the United States (or Mexico if the United States wins the Pan American qualifier)
  3. Hopefully one of or qualifies through the World Cup so the other won't be left out.
  4. Pretty bad championship for Canada, only one medal and no Olympic quotas.
  5. I think (and ) can still technically qualify. If qualify through the World Cup and qualifies through the Asian Championships and then qualifies through the European Championships
  6. Pretty much, at worst she'll qualify through host quota reallocation, at best she can still qualify through other means.
  7. Just as a reminder, the host quota will be reallocated after all the qualifiers are completed. It'll go to the highest ranked nation at the 2019 World Championships from a nation not yet qualified.
  8. Them qualifying in baseball/softball won't prevent other athletes from qualifying (unlike the Youth Olympics), so why not.
  9. It'll be interesting to see who the tripartite commission selects. and would prefer shooting and weightlifting respectively while already qualified normally in its preferred sport (shooting). After that they may want to go for men's archery over women's rhythmic gymnastics, which funny enough they are also competing with for. Of course, nations can win multiple tripartite quotas (I remember winning four of them in 2012, ignoring athletics and swimming)
  10. Thanks There is a real chance that 6/7 East Asian teams qualify in the women's team, leaving only Mongolia.
  11. I think in the end it only affected a few players. I'm not sure if Asia is going to do regional quotas again so we may see it again, but at least this time the top nations will already be qualified through the team quotas.
  12. And a men's team too. Not that it was surprising. The bigger question is which athletes will represent China.
  13. Exactly, for example in shooting an athlete can only earn one quota, but the NOC doesn't have to select them to compete.
  14. Mostly because they are being used to keep gender numbers more balanced. Don't worry, mixed artistic duet will be here soon enough.
  15. No they had an average of more than 8 athletes over the past two Olympics so they were dropped. I do agree that they rather go with a non-European nation due to the dominance of the continent, but I wouldn't completely rule out North Macedonia, especially if they only apply for this event while Sri Lanka applies for many. Cape Verde has also had a good relationship with FIG so they may get the nod, even if their athlete is inferior.
  16. Tripartite Eligible Performances (after 2 events) - 31.000 - 30.400 - 26.400 - 25.100 - 22.700 - 18.900 - 15.550 - 13.500 Of course, there's a bunch of other factors to consider including which events a nation is prioritizing
  17. Japan's selection event will be at the Japanese Championships scheduled in April 2020. Like for 2016 the selection criteria is the same, athletes must achieve the time equal or faster than what was done at the 2019 World Championships, with the exception of the women's 200m butterfly and 400m individual medley where the OQT must be achieved (because the OQT was faster than what was reached at the world champs).
  18. Sadly that's not an option, you either have to change or get left behind. I do agree that wrestling should have more quotas, but the same can be said for a bunch of other sports.
  19. The other option would be to kick men's freestyle and have men's Greco-Roman and women's freestyle, but I imagine the African and Pan American nations would be quite upset and I doubt the IOC would go that route. To be honest the UWW did this to themselves, the push for gender equality has been very clear for a long time. You'd think they would have tried to organize women's Greco-Roman after the whole almost getting kicked out of the Olympics fiasco. Now that boxing is starting to move closer to gender equality (assuming it even stays in the Olympics) the target will no doubt move to wrestling.
  20. To be honest, Greco-Roman is probably on borrowed time, especially with the IOC pushing for gender equality.
  21. So if I read the schedule correctly, the four Olympic events are all on the same day?
  22. Italy needs to save some of its luck for the Olympic qualifier
  23. I didn't realize that nations can only win a single quota (this is changed from 2016). So remove Kuwait, Pakistan and San Marino from the list
