Qualification Tracker

Test

Everything posted by JoshMartini007

  1. It essentially kept track on who has qualified to the Olympics.
  2. Tajikistan with one more chance today to try and qualify to the Olympics. They also still have two more athletes in box-off position, three should they go 0-3 in the quarterfinals.
  3. That's a shame, I worked a bit with him. My guess is he appeared to be a bit too official so I imagine the IOC got him for impersonation.
  4. It's an historic relic when traveling was expensive that's only kept because no one (Brazil/Canada/United States) wants more competition for the team quotas.
  5. Yeah it's only a matter of time before North and Latin America are merged. They are already hosting a Pan American Championship. I don't feel too bad as more often than not Canada is good enough to qualify one athlete in a hypothetical combined tournament, potentially two on good years. The issue is that both sides don't want to have a singe spot for the team and mixed doubles event
  6. And now the women Women's Flyweight (6 Quotas) vs vs vs vs Women's Featherweight (4 Quotas) vs vs vs vs Women's Lightweight (4 Quotas) vs vs vs vs Women's Welterweight (4 Quotas) vs vs vs vs Women's Middleweight (4 Quotas) vs vs vs vs
  7. Here are what the quarterfinals look like along with how many quotas available. First the men... Men's Flyweight (6 Quotas) vs vs vs vs Men's Featherweight (6 Quotas) vs vs vs vs Men's Lightweight (6 Quotas) vs vs vs vs Men's Welterweight (5 Quotas) vs vs vs vs Men's Middleweight (5 Quotas) vs vs vs vs Men's Light Heavyweight (5 Quotas) vs vs vs vs Men's Heavyweight (4 Quotas) vs vs vs vs Men's Super Heavyweight (4 Quotas) vs vs vs vs
  8. The logical answer would be it'll keep going down the world rankings, but for all we know they'll just make it a wild card spot.
  9. Body Building was expected to go while Basque Pelota is a hit or miss spot, though for Chile I thought they would be relatively okay with it. I had a feeling one of racquetball or squash would miss out, but seeing both was quite surprising. I imagine one of them will sneak back in. Bowling is very surprising. It's been on the program for a long time and is one of the cheaper venues to build (just add some temporary seating to a bowling alley). The only major reason I can think of is money. It's not a huge spectator sport and the venue holds just a couple hundred seats so even though it doesn't cost a lot, it doesn't make a lot either.
  10. with two boxers in the quarter-finals both will be going up against host nation plus they are decent boxers too.
  11. Robles/Xiao will have an opportunity to qualify to the Olympics in mixed doubles, but they must defeat Wang/Sun in the semi-final.
  12. Is beach handball popular? I always thought beach soccer would have been more likely.
  13. Interesting to see Ato Plodzicki-Faoagali in the heavyweight. He usually competes in the light heavyweight. Maybe he thought it would be easier? Should he win his first round match his opponent to qualify to the Olympics will either be the 2019 Asian Championship gold or bronze medalist.
  14. Canada will be having its selection trials today and tomorrow ahead of the Olympic qualifier to be held over the weekend. Two athletes from the singles events while one team in the mixed doubles will be selected to compete at the Olympic qualifier. This is important as it will narrow down who will take the Olympic singles quota (though I heard Bermuda might make an appearance) Draw list
  15. The only way the "at least 1 man and 1 woman" rule will work is if nations are allowed to have at least 1 man and 1 woman in athletics. Several nations will likely end with having only one athlete at the 2020 Olympics.
  16. Good to see it rescheduled. I was thinking maybe they would have used the 2019 World Aquatic Championships results or something
  17. A lot of commentators seem to think tripartite means wild card...
  18. Bailey should win, his biggest threat would be bouldering as I doubt he'll finish any lower the second in lead. The athlete with the best chance to match him points total is Granja, but he'll need to have a better bouldering and lead performance. I guess Duffy also has a chance too
  19. Yip should have qualified earlier, it's unfortunate she had to take a spot from one of the South American competitors.
  20. I'm confused with the results page. The speed and bouldering results looks wrong. But is in first and on pace to win so I don't mind
  21. Glad Uganda picked up at least one quota
  22. Big weekend for unqualified nations, of the 54 remaining nations, five of them are not eligible for tripartite invitations and must qualify by merit (minus athletics/swimming)
  23. Using a page from the Asia table tennis text book I see. He's currently the highest ranked eligible athlete with almost a 1200 point lead over the closest athlete, assuming nothing too crazy happens over the next few months he should qualify to the Olympics.
