  1. Unless we get crazy results tomorrow, Russia will be the 3rd seed, Denmark will be 5th/6th (likely 6th), Czech Republic will be 7th and Switzerland will be 10th so we already have a potential first round match-up.
  2. Final Thoughts Another poor day for Canada, but at least we won a medal. We also lost a very good medal opportunity in men's 500m speed skating and lost all of our curling and ice hockey matches. While Rahneva recovered in the skeleton the second run from yesterday killed her chances. We also are in 6th in ice dancing, a medal was always going to be difficult, more so after watching their performance in the team event.
  3. At this point we would be very lucky to reach 6 gold medals, we just don't have a lot of events in which we are the overall favourite.
  4. Yup a couple of good medal opportunities today in mixed snowboard cross and men's 500m speed skating, still holding out hope in women's skeleton, but she pretty much needs two first place finishes in order to have a chance at a medal. Ice dance begins today, but given our performance in the team event, a medal is now unlikely. Also a big match in ice hockey which will likely determine the group winner.
  5. Her performance in the team event gives her an outside chance, but it would probably take all three Russians to not appear and maybe a couple of falls by some of the other top skaters.
  6. Final Thoughts A very poor day for Canada overall, not only did we not win any medals today, but the performance today put other medals in danger. The second run in women's skeleton killed Canada's (albeit small) chances of a medal. Bloemen's second poor performance in speed skating puts our chances in the team pursuit at risk and both curling teams lost, though it's not the end of the world as there are a lot more games left to be played. We did have some positives, our women's ice hockey team is in the semi-finals with a strong victory over Sweden and our performance in short track went well with all men advancing in the 500m along with our relay qualifying to the finals.
  7. Group B teams seem to be performing better, better watch out, is coming for you.
  8. After a strong day yesterday, Day 7 seems to be a lot quieter. Our medal hopes will mostly be in short track (women's 1000m) and speed skating (men's 10000m). I'll be keeping an eye on women's skeleton to see if we can put ourselves in a good position tomorrow.
  9. Final Thoughts Overall a great day for Canada, we won a medal in almost all of our realistic chances, 2 silvers and 2 bronzes. The lack of gold medals is a bit concerning, but there is still a lot to go. We also won all of our curling matches and the men's ice hockey team seems to be in good form
  10. The event was suppose to be a free gold for China, it couldn't even do that!
  11. Canada needs to stay out of the box. Germany's essentially has a 6 minutes straight PP
  12. Seems like Canada is having one of those "no golds allowed" Olympics We are tied with Austria and Norway with 12 medals, but are 12th on the medal table
  13. Nice for Canada to sneak a bronze. From the number of nations competing there was always a chance and they were able to capitalize it.
  14. Good runs by Canada, don't think it will be enough with the slalom guys not too far behind. Still hoping for Crawford...
  15. We have a few medal chances today with speed skating women's 5000m and men's snowboard cross being our best chances. I'd keep my eye on alpine skiing just because of how depleted the field is and we are a crazy situation away from sneaking a mixed team aerials medal, but I wouldn't bet on it. Plus the men's ice hockey team begins today.
  16. I assume the offending athlete's point total will be zeroed, meaning Russia would still have 55+ points if one of the non-female singles disciplines were to be removed which would allow them to finish ahead of Canada.
  17. It also doesn't help that if it was any other teammate getting DSQ ROC would still have a bronze medal.
  18. Honestly, I think it's because combined is slowly being killed/phased off. The lack of World Cup events will do that.
  19. Final thoughts Good day for Canada, winning two medals. Short track went as well as short track can go while our men's team picked up its first win in curling.
  20. How does disqualification work? Obviously she would lose her points for the team, but does everyone move up a spot? If not, then Russia will have 54 points, one more than Canada, if so then Canada will get two extra points and have 55 points.
