Referee cheated with Amit Rohidas Red card. The stick movement was not intentional.

Hearing on Amit Rohidas will take place at 7pm Paris time. He is likely to serve a one match ban. Tournament Director to take a call after reviewing severity of offence.

This set of images has it covered: On Instagram

For me, even taking nationality aside (soz Will Calnan), I'd look it as:

    - Rohidas had possession, dribbling ball on ground

    - Calnan comes in to challenge

    - Rohidas is fully aware there is player next to him evidenced by body contact

    - Rohidas touches ball away on reverse stick, losing control of the ball

    - Both chase for the now loose ball

    - Rohidas raises his stick beyond and above the arm of the player on him during chase, and then immediately lowers it
    - Stick makes full contact with Calnan

    - Rohidas then elbows Calnan as Calnan goes to ground

    - Play stopped

The challenge I'd have is that:

    - Raising a stick that high is dangerous

    - It cannot have been a legitimate attempt to play the ball by Rohidas as it was too far away

Therefore for me, the intent was to raise the stick in a manner to impede the player, as neither had the ball. Because the stick was used, and not say a shove or similar I'd be hard pressed to give anything but a red.

    Relevant rules:

9.2 Players on the field must hold their stick and not use it in a dangerous way

9.12 Players must not obstruct an opponent who is attempting to play the ball. Players obstruct if they: – back into an opponent – physically interfere with the stick or body of an opponent – shield the ball from a legitimate tackle with their stick or any part of their body.

    Umpiring Rules:

2.3.h When a player intentionally misbehaves in a serious manner towards another player, umpire or other match official the red card must be shown immediately.

This is an event i just watch, at the end of the 8 minute dance i think "that looked like everything else i saw" and then hope the score isn't higher than ours.

Good watch though, i like the music :d

In it for the fab medleys of music. Fry's was an exceptional selection - Bittersweet Symphony into Hey Jude? 10/10

The dutch cracking out Spice Girls is a real threat though.

Really disappointing performance by the Team GB men not to be able to find one extra goal when India played 40 minutes of the match one man down.

Very disappointing, I had really high hopes for them considering recent Pro League performances.

I’ve checked all the annual statements of England Hockey and their grant funding has actually decreased/not matched inflation for the last 5 years so that’s probably why.

Please.....please......please do not engage with his nonsense. He only spouts this rubbish because he wants to elicit reactions from the rational members of the forum who actually have a genuine interest in sport and want Team GB to succeed.

Harsh though it may be, sometimes the only way to deal with a petulant child is to put them in the corner and ignore them.

Are you suggesting we should cut funding for this? I'm in.

Judo is surely heading for a funding cut if not a Funding axe.

    Here we go again.

All loose pyjamas to be banned, Britain will be forced to wear nighties or Lycra bodysuits to sleep in. Gym mats to be replaced with hay. Any physical fights that get to a grappling stage will now be considered punishable by death and no longer will the sport of Judo be mentioned in Great Britain.
