copravolley got a reaction from Ted in Curling WCF European Championship 2024
Most of our athletes are constantly bothered by something: the pressure to qualify, the miss of pressure when they have already qualified, etc. It's the same in football: at the beginning of the season they are a poor form becouse of a little played and at the end of the season they are tired. They are always looking for excuses. A real champion always plays at a high level, like Sinner, and doesn`t look for 1000 excuses for his poor performance.

Sindo, are you a big Meloni supporter or what?

Violette Braun is the first woman in a World Cup since 2009. Today she obliterated the NR in the 1500 by 3 seconds (2'04) on a rather slow track. Second 1500 ever for her, first was in Inzell a few weeks back (2'07) with what seemed like very good conditions.
It means a lot of room for improvement and a good sign for the 3000 which is her real strong event at the moment - she lacks basic speed but had one of the fastest final laps today, 10th over Div A and B. Faster last than penultimate lap must be quite unusual too.

As far as I am concerned, there are two very simple problems: infrastructure and the lack of cooperation between sports federations. Let me explain.
The MiCo2026 Olympics will provide virtually no legacy in ice sports, there is still a lack of an indoor hall, there is no federal centre that has been promised for so many years. It could have been an opportunity to make a nice roof in Baselga di Pinè, but instead they preferred to make temporary facilities in Rho.
The second problem is the total lack of cooperation between roller skating and speed skating, we have a huge pool and we are not exploiting it. Fortunately we are doing a few small collegiate events, the technical collaboration with the Netherlands absolutely must be exploited.
I am not so negative however about the current situation, Ghiotto practically on the 10k seems to be off the scale (watch out for the Czech and Norwegian) and he can medal in the 5k and drag the pursuit team. In the mass start you have more cards in both the men's and women's, let's see what Fontana does. And a Fontana-Peveri-Lollobrigida pursuit team can also play for a third place

That's the point. She better, in everyone's interest here, take time now to maximize her chances to be in her best shape come the Olympics.

2-1.
But it's good to have a great champion in the squad. I've been waiting for this my whole life. I wish we had such stars in every sport.

There are currently no grounds to consider Ghiotto as a favourite for the 5000. He has never won any important 5000 event while dominating the 10 km at the same time. Roest always won the same pattern, with Ghiotto losing all his advantage in the last 2 laps. We will see what the Italian's form will be like now and how tactically he wants to play it. I would also not forget about Eitrem from Norway, who is much younger from these two and has a lot of room for development.

Well that is a totally different question I too have wondered what happened to Italian cross-country and how there is no one coming for so many years. But it shouldn't take away from the sports where progress has been made.

Well that explains why she is wearing more clothes with every passing day.
Nevertheless that team is still one of the best in the world and is a vast improvement on what Italy was doing 10-20 years ago.

A bit pity for the Slovakian dream, that could be a great history.

1-0. I hope Paolini closes it out in singles. She deserves it for the overall season and progress she's made.

Lisa Vittozzi will miss the first stage of the World Cup in Kontiolahti due to back problems. In my opinion, it must be something serious, because by missing 3 individual events, she basically loses the chance to win the general classification of the World Cup again this season. Otherwise, she would start and minimize the losses. I`m afraid that this could be a lost season for Vittozzi and without her we basically have no chance for any medal at the World Championships (except maybe Wierer in the individual race).

Not that serious imo. She did race last week, with a merely decent outing but still able to make it past the finish line. Probably a cautionnary decision, get some more time to come back into shape and maybe refocus her goals this year as I don't really rate her chances of crystal globe with 3 races missed. We're in a pre-Olympics season, with home Olympics in sight for her and after a near perfect season last year. No need to take risks and endanger her future in the sport.

this is something I would never have bet for in my life.
Crazy Lipták could not reach a success in 2013 with a team of Hantuchová, Cibulková & Rybarikova and now managed the final with a bunch of complete underdogs... that is some san marino-esque story here
anyway, whatever will happen in the final tomorrow already super proud

Yeah, I've read opinions that some Israel intelligence agents within Hamas ranks convinced Hamas to make the attack since Netanyahu is weak and the response would be limited but this is just what Netanyahu needed to fight a sudden enemy and it only helped his political status when some thought he is truly heading for the exit door.
This kind of charade isn't anything new in politics, the same way de Gaulle "needed" OAS in the early 60s and they were at least inspired by inside French government agents to begin with.
