Sweden is like Poland in football, they are a squad of very average talent carried by a top 5 attacking player in the world (Isabelle Haak, 26 pt today).

Not a total shock. This was a provincial team representing Argentina. Here's what happened: both our men's and women's team travelled together on bus to Chile (yes, all inside a single tiny bus in covid time, stupid). When entering Chile one player of the men's team got a positive in a quick covid test and as a result, all players of both teams and their entire coaching staff were sent back to Argentina and quarantined. Therefore no one could play this championship because of a single positive! we had to make two new teams from scratch and send them without any training 2 days before the tournaments. The men apparently were decent enough to beat USA so far and look like they will qualify. The women, evidently, weren't good enough (yet they held their own pretty decently in both games given the circumstances). It is really sad because especially our women's team was absurdly talented this time, we were sending one olympic medalist girl from Tokyo and several others from the last YOG but their dreams were completely crushed before they could even play a single game due to incompetence from our federation

Yeah, I was just about to post that after looking in wikipedia. It seems only the top 4 teams of the recent division I are guaranteed to play division I again in 2023. All the rest (from the 5th place of div I all the way down to teams in div IV) will play each other in some ridiculous series of tournaments in 2022 in order to be distributed to the various divisions for 2023. So absurd... we'll see some 20-0 scores.

Olympics are intrinsically about nationality since ancient times. It's always been about nations competing so they don't do real war. Without nationalities the concept of olympics loses it's purpose. Maybe it'll be for the better, but it won't be the olympics anymore and we should therefore close this website.

How is mixed kiteboarding even possible? It's an individual sport. Or were they planning to make women compete against men?

Bad if we compare to last 20 years, good if I compare to my expectations. At least our people still seem to be able to pull off their best performances despite the limited resources and inefficent sports administration.

Thankfully I don't need to navigate that awful olympics site since there's a mexican company that had rights for all of latin america (minus Brazil) and streamed every single event and match on YouTube. Everything will be there forever for us in latam to watch
