  1. lol Derek Drouin not nominated, and he has literally won every major title in the last Quad (Current Commonwealth, Pan American Games, World and Olympic champion)
  2. Sorry I worded that wrong. There has been past precedence for a 16 year old... so worst case scenario is that age.
  3. At least 16... Lebanon had a skier who was 16 in 2010.
  4. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/01/sports/olympics/boxing-aiba-audit-azerbaijan-loan.html?_r=0
  5. Canada won gold at the world cup men's team pursuit this weekend, looks like the velodrome built for the Pan Am Games is doing wonders for the track cycling future of this country!
  6. Also add to the list. None of their athletes are likely to get through. Tucker Murphy retired after Sochi.
  7. Oh and how could we forget Kosovo, they are likely to qualify at least one alpine skier. Adding a couple more to the list: Madagascar has an alpine skier who is a bit behind in qualification points, but he is on the same club that qualified the country's first and only Winter Olympian in 2006. Senegal: one female alpine skier is quite behind in qualification points, I doubt she qualifies, but there is always a chance.
  8. Other Asian countries debuting at the 2017 Asian Winter Games: Vietnam Cambodia Sri Lanka (I know this athlete is a young cross-country skier with a Czech/Sri Lankan bg, so maybe he will qualify. However no FIS details yet).
  9. Costa Rica - Andreas Hamm, a freestyle skier has a semi-decent shot at qualifying Afghanistan - Afghanistan has a couple alpine skiers seeking qualification, more of their abilities will be seen at the Asian Winter Games next year Uganda - Uganda has a snowboarder currently chasing qualification in slopestyle. Might be a bit of a longshot at this point Eritrea - Shannon Abeda, a Canadian born alpine skier, who competed in 2012 at the Youth Olympics. He was very close to qualifying in 2014, but just missed the cut. He should qualify this time around Colombia - Their speed skating team should qualify at least one athlete, and their Youth Olympian from 2016 in alpine skiing should qualify Ecuador - They have a CC skier, who is at this point a bit of a long shot, but you never know Ghana - Ghana has a skeleton athlete who is originally Dutch, and is just outside the qualification range, but anything is literally possible South Africa - This time hopefully Slive Spleeman gets to go! He qualified but the Olympic Committee rejected the quota. There is also a Swedish born snowboarder who has a semi decent shot of qualifying. North Korea - This is a mystery. Their athletes usually come out of nowhere to do well in most sports. Speed skating/figure skating remain a possibility for them. Trinidad and Tobago - Another skier (cross country) with Canadian roots, is within striking distance of qualifying. Singapore - long shot in short track speed skating I didn't include Puerto Rico, because they will reject the quota(s). they earn. Of the 2014 list, British Virgin Islands (hasn't competed since 2014), Zimbabwe (hasn't competed in a while), Tajikistan (no athletes currently competing at the qualification level), Dominica (no athletes) and Nepal (retired) are in threat of not qualifying
  10. Alpensia ski jump will also host the big air competitions of snowboarding.
  11. They both had a successful debut, but it will take a bit more work to qualify for 2018. Good luck too them! Also I gotta say this has to be the most developed winter sport (in terms of competitive countries). Literally 10-12 countries could win medals on a given day.
  12. Maybe they will finish before 2018 and host then
  13. Wow I am impressed with Mexico!
  14. Just saw the entry lists for the first world cup and looks like Ireland will be entering two athletes (both are transfers from Canada). Is this the first ever world cup for Ireland?
  15. Canada will invest 40% more in sports funding for the next four years Source Hopefully that means 25-30 medals for Tokyo? Here's hoping!
  16. Brit MacLean retires https://swimming.ca/en/news/2016/10/24/olympic-medallist-multiple-record-holder-maclean-retiring/
  17. Do we really need all the results of the African Championships?
  18. Sorry I misunderstood you. I thought you were going to go there as a reporter (so you would need accreditation for that). Ticket sales start next year apparently.
  19. I hope to be there as well on the other end of media operations Have you applied yet to go? I believe the accreditation system has opened up and expires rather quickly.
  20. Some positive track cycling news
