  1. Hoping for Sweden-Canada finals Of course you probably already know that I like Team Edin on the men’s side (and to a lesser extent Team Schwaller), but I also really like Team Hasselborg on the women’s side (same for Team Fujisawa)
  2. Doesn’t sound right to me either, but that’s what SwimSwam is reporting.
  3. Saw that! Just didn’t mention it here due to the excessive amount of posts I’ve done today
  4. Officially confirmed.
  5. Not exactly sure if it’s correct actually, my information is according to a user on VolleyTalk (a Volleyball forum) but it does seem a bit strange why he hasn’t been on any Canadian rosters lately. Can’t seem to find the link to the post again, as I found this information out months ago, but basically Sammelvuo scheduled a training block out of nowhere, and at the same time Sclater had a trip booked with his family and they got into a whole argument about it. He decided to go on the trip, and that was the end for him. He was left off the roster for Olympic Qualifiers/Olympics, while clearly being one of the best players on the Canadian team, and he hasn’t been suffering injuries lately (playing with Jastrzębski Węgiel in the Polish league during the club season) so I can’t seem to think of any other reasons why he’s been left off the team.
  6. Also want to mention, the friendship between Jennifer Jones and Team Fujisawa is so heartwarming. They were of course at the game watching, cheering on their curling idol. I’d imagine there were a lot of hugs shared between them afterwards. Wish her all the best in the future! And of course she’s not done with curling yet, she’ll still be competing in mixed doubles with her husband Brett Laing. This video was taken at the Beijing 2022 Olympics. In particular, right after the last session concluded, and the moment she found out that Japan would qualify for the semifinals instead of Canada. One of the many reasons why she’s one of my favourite curlers (and athletes in general)
  7. Off the top of my head After the 400IM, 200FL, 200IM, 400FR, 200FR, 800FR, 200BK?
  8. Canadian men’s volleyball Olympic wide roster of 18 has been announced. Liberos Landon Currie Justin Lui Outside Hitters Ryley Barnes Samuel Cooper Nicholas Hoag (hopefully Sammelvuo doesn’t select him lol, nothing against him but there’s much more deserving names that deserve a Paris spot over him, he isn’t as good as he was a couple of years ago) Brodie Hofer Eric Loeppky Stephen Maar Setters Luke Herr Brett Walsh Middle Blockers Danny Demyanenko Pearson Eshenko Jackson Howe Fynn McCarthy Jordan Schnitzer Lucas Van Berkel Opposites Xander Ketrzynski Arthur Szwarc Was hoping Gord Perrin would unretire from the NT, and Ryan Sclater would sort his disputes with Sammelvuo but nope. https://www.instagram.com/p/C5qipwAOzcD/?igsh=bHdhazd4dWkzMmg5
  9. Jennifer Jones’s four-person curling career has come to an end
  10. New PB for Cassandra Williamson in women’s 800m at the Bryan Clay Invitational, clocking a 2:04.51! https://www.instagram.com/p/C5rlilqxLgO/?igsh=bWdkbDhyYnM3dm42
  11. Great split for Pickrem during the breaststroke leg however. 1:05.61!
  12. France won’t double up in men’s singles and doubles. The Popov brothers lost early at the European Championships, which means that Corvee/Labar have secured their spot on the French team.
  13. Maybe if this wasn’t in Canada, but I disagree. Their families are probably there, they’ll want to be on the podium regardless of whether or not they’re going to be at the Olympics. Plus, getting some momentum heading into the summer would be huge.
  14. FYI, after the Olympic qualification period is over (so sometime in late June/early July) I’ll be doing a sport by sport overview for Team Canada, listing surprises, expectations, and disappointments in each. (some sports don’t have surprises/expectations, but the majority do)
  15. Quotas in men’s and women’s team sprint in track cycling through the Olympic Rankings!
  16. Wdym save the quotas lol. Not getting quotas here doesn’t mean we’ll get extra unexpected quotas elsewhere. And even if they probably aren’t going to get a result at the Olympics, I’d still want them to qualify and add to the Team Canada total.
  17. One of the worst days of the Olympic qualification period from my perspective… Not even a full team in men’s and women’s sprint would make up for this disaster. I’m done. BTW, although Xu/Xu and Chiu/Gai were ahead of the Canadian pairs in the Olympic Ranking heading into this event that’s pretty much due to the fact that they were competing at most of the BWF events on the calendar unlike the Canadians (Their athletes probably have more funding than ours I’m assuming). They’d lose early most of the time, but occasionally they’d make it past a couple of rounds. Also can I just mention that we won all four gold medals last year. That tells you all you need to know…
  18. Looks like it’ll be 0-2 in the race to Paris against our American counterparts, this time an exit in the semifinals of women’s doubles. Just three years ago we qualified a full team, oh times have changed.
  19. WR for Samuel Watson in men’s speed with a MONSTER 4.79 https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5qdpA3vJgS/?igsh=eDBjc2o2ZG5ncngx
  20. That’s correct
  21. Aren’t they already guaranteed?
  22. Lol I’m watching the semifinals now, Chiu/Gai won and Lindeman/Wu lost.
