  1. Brazil has banned Twitter (X) Guess the left still knows what a censorship is
  2. Kerrica Hill defends the 100H gold from Cali. Mia Wild with silver and Delta Amidzovski completes the rare long jump & hurdles medal double. Zuzanna Zając in 5th place.
  3. Mary Moraa's cousin wins women's 800m. Hollingsworth & Gorriaran complete the podium. Australia is sure having a good championships
  4. Raikiwasa won bronze in the discus but she spins out onto her backside in the shot put
  5. Ayansa holds off Craig to win men's 800m gold. Ochiai holds off O'Reilly for bronze. Both faded badly in the last 60 meters.
  6. Women's Olympic final rematch will happen in R4 with Zheng Qinwen vs Donna Vekic.
  7. Kumar with a -0.189 reaction time but only a warning Udeme Okon wins 400m final ahead of two Americans.
  8. Lurdes Manuel wins women's 400m in predictable fashion. Dianne Proctor with a turbo finish to claim silver ahead of Akins.
  9. Natalia Kałucka is the former World Champion but she couldn't start in Paris OG due to nations quota. The fact Poland finished 1-2 in the women's event isn't a big surprise
  10. Decathlon is one event where was supposed to pick up a medal. Troscianka in 2nd place after four events.
  11. Well, the Ochonogor who finished 12th in Olympic Games final only came 5th in the LJ here. Men's 100m had the podium with two from that OG silver relay and Boonson who was in the OG semi-final.
  12. with their second medal. Julia Adamczyk won bronze in the long jump. Funnily enough Australia won gold in that event too
  13. Nope, junior sport in general is obscure in Poland. I'm not that familiar with all the top names in junior athletics myself even though it tends to be unpredictable almost by default.
  14. Women's Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova lost to Elena-Gabriela Ruse in R2 already. Still an upset if any upset is standard for WTA anyway Big chance for Paula Badosa to make a run in this section of the draw now.
  15. I don't think many people even in Poland expected a silver medal in the mixed 4x400 relay
  16. having a terrible tournament. Auger-Alliassime, Shapovalov, Andreescu and Fernandez all lost in R1 already. Emma Raducanu makes her 2021 win look even more fortunate as she goes down to out-of-form Sofia Kenin in R1 as well.
  17. It's been a while since we had driver in F1. Gaston Mazzacane in 2001 IIRC. Obviously Sargeant was a sitting duck and the latest practice crash at Zandvoort which ruined all the new updates they brought in was the last straw.
  18. After leaving Juventus Wojciech Szczęsny has decided to retire from professional football. That's quite a shocking decision given he's "only" 34 years old.
  19. Maria Sakkari with another R1 loss in Grand Slam. This time she retired injured after the first set. I don't remember a Top 10 player losing so many R1 matches in Grand Slam tbh.
  20. Not really but the official Upper Silesia colors are blue & yellow so the blue elephant had to wear yellow pants
  21. 25 year old McCartney Kessler - a former NCAA product - who only made Top 100 two weeks ago wins her first WTA title in Cleveland over Beatriz Haddad Maia. Kessler hasn't won a WTA tour match in her entire career before this week (one win at Australian Open which is ITF event). She also won Landisville 100k which earned her a MD wild card to US Open where she plays Marta Kostyuk in R1.
  22. Daria Pikulik said she will take a two year break from track cycling and *maybe* decides to return after that IF the situation in our cycling federation gets better (hint: it probably won't). She will focus on road racing going forward. https://infosport.pl/aktualnosci-2024-sport-zawodowy/kolarstwo/daria-pikulik-zrywa-z-kolarstwem-torowym-winny-zwiazek
  23. It's like the old joke about sports newspapers in Denmark. 9 pages about handball and 3 pages for everything else. A former football keeper once told that story in Polish press, they won some big game and he thought it would be on the first page but it wasn't because it was all handball
  24. Trude Dybendahl (cross country skiing) passed away at the age of 58.
