  1. Please refer to my post of 10th March (in the Tokyo 2020 qualification systems thread). Briefly: Light Fly (49 kg) is dropped and Bantam (56 kg) / Light (60 kg) / Light Welter (64 kg) are merged to Feather (57 kg) / Light (63 kg). Obviously, that will have an effect, only if AIBA is the organizing body of the OG 2020 Boxing tournament.
  2. At Athens 2004, Greece did not get the Field Hockey quota for Men and Women.
  3. The five categories announced by IOC a couple of years ago remain (51, 57, 60, 69, 75) - two more than Rio 2016.
  4. Interesting decisions by AIBA: Olympics weight classes for Men (reduced to 8) Bout Review process, after winner announcement, utilizing official video equipment Changes to Boxers' uniforms etc. Source: https://www.aiba.org/aiba-technical-competition-rules/ Please refer to AIBA Technical & Competition Rules (ENG)
  5. There is no more one to one mapping between World / Continental Championships and Olympic Games weight categories, for Men. That means conversion clarifications are required, in the case that World Championships will be used for qualification events (provided Boxing and AIBA get the green light from IOC).
  6. Furthermore, AIBA decides on new Olympics weight classes for Men; dropping two categories. Source: https://www.aiba.org/aiba-technical-competition-rules/ Please refer to AIBA Technical & Competition Rules (ENG), chapter 2.2 or to Articles like: https://indianexpress.com/article/sports/sport-others/aiba-olympics-weight-classes-boxing-5615327/ Briefly: Light Fly (49 kg) is dropped and Bantam (56 kg) / Light (60 kg) / Light Welter (64 kg) are merged to Feather (57 kg) / Light (63 kg).

  8. With the conclusion of 2018 Women's World Cup, the 13 out of 16 tickets for the 18th FINA World Championships at Gwangju (KOR) - 2019 are decided: 1st criteria: 2018 FINA Women’s Water Polo World League Super Final (2 tickets): 1. USA, 2 Netherlands 2nd criteria: 2018 FINA Women's World Cup (4 tickets): 2.Russia, 3. Australia, 4 Spain, 5. China (1. USA already qualified) 3rd Continental criteria 2018 LEN European Championships (3 tickets): 2. Greece, 4 Hungary, 6 Italy (1 Netherlands, 3 Spain and 5 Russia already qualified) 2018 Asian Games (2 tickets): 2. Kazakhstan 3. Japan (1. China already qualified) Oceania (1 ticket): New Zealand (Australia already qualified) Africa (1 ticket): South Africa
  9. The World Cup gave 4 tickets for the 18th FINA World Championships Gwangju (KOR). Unfortunately, that was not even mentioned in FINA news site, which makes me wonder how FINA expects to raise awareness for the sport and its forthcoming Worlds. If someone considers reallocation of places, following teams got a ticket after World Cup: 1. Russia 2. Italy (reallocation from Spain) 3. New Zealand (reallocation from Australia) 4. Japan (reallocation from China)
  12. Great Medals in European Athletics and Swimming!!
  13. Is there a specific link with Water Polo matches? Thank you for the great effort anyway.
  14. The main criteria for qualifying (directly or indirectly via Tournaments) on 3 X 3 is the sum of ranking points of top 100 nationals. This is a depth / volume criteria rather than a top quality one; which contradicts with the TOP Athletes concept for the Summer Games. I am surprised that IOC approved - this would be more suitable for the concept of the Youth Games.
