It hasn't been the most spectacular tournament, really. Maybe the semis will spark just a bit.

I have watched a few matches of the Women's World Cup, and I'm not enjoying the gameplay as much as I could.

 

First of all, there's too few goals. Out of the first 40 matches, the average score was 2.7 - 0.7. The lost didn't score any goal in 17 matches, and there was one 0-0 draw.

 

In addition, most goals are from set plays. Only 54 out of 137 goals were field goals (39%).

 

I think that field hockey needs some rules changes to increase the number of field goals.

I would make the goal a little wider, and increase the penalty circle to 18 m.

 

In addition, I would add a 3m goalkeeper-only circle.

Yes but Argentina played way better that day. Also Netherlands was better in that tournament so that was to be expected. Today was pathetic.
