I know that Africa doesn't have secure quota in men's tournament, only a spot in OQT. I am not sure about women's tournament since Croatia doesn't have serious team yet,

For a flagship event eights is doing horrible. I mean look at the boat list at the 2019 World Championships. I can't name an Olympic event with such low participation at the World Championship level.

Literally not a single thing on SA water polo sites, and you'd think that would be a big deal...

I doubt it, probably they only announced they will compete at OQT.

Anyone has more info on the olympic qualification tournament? In particular, how many teams are going to take part and from that how many from Europe?

 

Hungarian sports media says it is a 12 nation tournament (as in 2016) with 5 places for Europe (this would be NED, HUN, ITA, GRE and FRA based on the ECh 2020 results), on the other hand Wikipedia says (with no source) a 15 nation tournament with 8 places for Europe. This latter seems suspicious, as the number of participants in those tournament used to be an even number

 

Who will publish the participants of said tournament? The FINA?

according to a few prestigious sources, it's basically confirmed (still, not official, but almost) that :RSA South Africa decided to take advantage of their "free quota" in both the men and women's Waterpolo Olympic tournaments in Tokyo...

 

therefore, for what concerns the women's division, the final qualification tournament ( :ITA Triest, March 8th-15th) will only award 2 spots...

 

and it's confirmed that it will be a 12-team tournament with :ITA / :HUN / :NED / :GRE / :FRA / :BRA (the only teams officially confirmed so far) and 6 more non European teams, with the remaining teams from the last European Championship (in ranking order) standing-by and waiting for possible withdrawals from those non-European teams with priority...

South Africa's women's rugby sevens team must be quite upset, they were the only team sport to decline their quota.

 

I wonder if FINA will make a rule change if it looks as if South Africa will take the quota in the future. Perhaps make it so that a continental qualifier must take place. Australia won't have an issue scheduling a match with New Zealand. Even if Africa is able to schedule an event, at least there will be some kind of push to develop water polo on the continent.

      now the shooting sport takes a little Christmas break and the new season resumes in January with the Asian Championships for the Shotgun specialists ( Doha, Jan. 11th through 22nd)   the World Cup will be back in late March, beginning in  Tangiers (March 25th through April 3rd, Shotgun specialists only)   the Rifle and Pistol specialists will start their new season with the European 10m Championships in  Yerevan (Feb. 27th through March 5th) and the 1st World Cup stage for them will be in  Granada in April (5th through 13th)   300m, 25m and 50m European Champs will be in  Osijek (May 30th through June 21st), meanwhile the Shotgun European Champs will be held in  Athens from Sept. 27th through Oct. 13th

      so, the 2025 season is officially over, after the World Cup Finals have been completed with the Shotgun events, where (once again!!!) a new format for the final stage of each event has been experimented for the first time (before it becomes a regular feature in the next season)   the new format enlarge the starting field in each event's final stage to 8 shooters and dramatically shortens the number of target shots to decide the placings   the only characteristic remaining is the progressive eliminations principle   now, as written above, 8 shooters make the final, where after only 12 targets the eliminations start: by then, the last 2 shooters must leave the competition (7th and 8th ranked)   after 12 more targets (24 in total), 2 more shooters have to leave the final (5th and 6th ranked)   then, the crazy carousel starts: every 4 targets we have a new elimination  so, after 28 targets, the 4th ranked shooter is done; after 32 targets the bronze medallist is known and after only 36 targets (provided there's no need for a shoot-off), compared to the previous 60, the gold and silver medallists are crowned   I guess the tiktok people with the attention span of a chinchilla have won once again

      Strange schedule  16 june , vs Argentina in kansas city 22 june vs Jordan in san Francisco  27 june vs Austria in kansas city    the Distance San francisco- Kansas 2500km , so they fly 5000km to play 3 matchs
