Emilien Jacquelin is out of the Blink Festival due to fall in a bicycle ride in Norway.  He will not be able to train for a few weeks.  The image below is from his Facebook page.

Geraghty-Moats only hit 3/15 in the standing in both races? I suppose she won't return to biathlon full-time anytime soon.

I saw that and was surprised.  I do not know if she has turned her back on ski jumping/nordic combined but her shooting was not great.  I envision her as an IBU Cup biathlete at best.  She also had a 2 min penalty in the Mass Start that would have had her finish in 8th.  Joanne Reid did not participate so I would envision that she would have defeated her as well.

Paul Schommer's win was his biathlon win of his career.  Good for him,

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
