India withdrew from the Hockey Pro League as Hockey India felt that we had better chance of qualifying for Olympics by playing in Hockey Series.

Real reason is because of Narinder Batra's ego. After becoming FIH President, he thought he could rule FIH as his personal fiefdom, just like he did here. But, he experienced push back from other office bearers. So, as a game of chicken, India threatened to withdraw from Hockey Pro League. He thought, FIH would come begging to him to stop this withdrawal as India is one of the biggest markets for hockey. But, FIH decided to call our bluff and replaced us with other teams. So, now India is out of Pro League and is playing in the lower level Hockey Series. Narinder Batra is just de-facto President of FIH, nobody cares about his opinion there.

India have been badly effected with the volleyball federation. Men's team which had chances to play in qualifying tournament for Olympics 2020 now has gone to zero. With Men's ranking gone to 131 from 39. Women's from 65 to 117 and now seems no where to go for the Indian team unless there is revival.
